Kinda disappointed here but never really said anything because I acquired an A1200 that works (just need some parts to make it complete) and 2 MorphOS systems that do exactly what I need for a NG system. But.........
I had this idea of putting together an A500 with an A590 with a 1084s. You see this stuff in mags or the computer store but the A590 is just too expensive for me as a kid back then. It was something I couldnt get as a kid because I didnt have that kinda money when I was working for minimum wage. I figured I'd put that together now. Well screw that. Prices of the A590 make it unattractive but also, if it takes a dump, cant fix it most likely. My new idea was an A500 + Kipper2k w/8mb + Indivision + Gotek floppy and a LCD monitor. No problem, bought it all.
I put the Kipper2k in but didnt solder it, just wanted to test it, works perfect. I remove the Indivision from another A500 and it doesnt fit with the Kipper2k board. Very annoying..almost to the point of just selling the Kipper2k because its of no use anymore.
I guess theres no way to make this stuff fit?
Should I just give up on this idea and sell the A500 with the kipper2k board, keep a spare A500 with the Gotek and build out my A1200 instead?

I know this sucks but in lieu of Indivision I use a RGB to scart and SCART to HDMI box and it works great. I use this with the Vampire 2. Bot the vampire 2 and the RGB to scart to hdmi are on the same monitor and I use a remote to swap back and forth.
-
That Vampire board is only for the A600 though, right?
-
There is a 500 version coming out. It rocks. It's everything I ever dreamed of having on an A500 AND THEN SOME. I have a A500+ motherboard with 2mb chip ram on the motherboard. I have one as I'm a team member. going to do some testing with some famous amiga video products soon. The 500 version will have all the bells and whistles plus 10 megabytes per second IDE. There are some good things in the works. A500 users are going to be really happy.

When you say "I bought a Kipper2k", what board are you referring to, exactly? You've listed the manufacturer, not the product name.
In any case, plenty of folks on here using Indivision with another board in the processor socket, you just need one CPU spacer. For example my A500 has an Indivision and a Megachip, with a VXL*30 above that, and heatsinks and a fan above that. You just have to remove the metal shield and it all fits fine; case closes, etc. I can post pictures later if you need them, although I'm sure I've posted them before if you look on some of my other threads. ;)

Mike is right some of the Vampire testers use the extra Sockets on the vampire. Matter of fact mine had a couple to clear the ECS chips. One bloke used multiple sockets stacked on top of one another to fit a V2 in an A1000.

The A590 has schematics and code for the PALs available if you needed to repair it so that shouldn't be a problem.
I figure you're talking about Kipper's IDE+RAM board, what others have said is you could get one of Kipper's 68000 CPU adapter boards to make more room around the Indivision here -> http://kipper2k.com/cpuadapter.html
Keep in mind that if you have an A590 with full memory it's going to overlap with the 8MB on Kipper's board so you would want to just use 2MB or 4MB on the A590 or Kipper's board.

I believe the max RAM on an A590 is 2 MB (at least that's what mine has and there's no empty slots).

This is correct.
If TS is talking about the A508IDE from Kipper2K: this fits nicely with the Indivision ECS, but you do need the A500 cpu spacer which is also sold by Kipper2K. I have exactly this configuration.

What are the specs on the A500 version?
Edit: found it. Damn..that's bad ass. Looks like I'll get that when it comes out.

Yep...the CF IDE board. I'll look into that 68k adapter board. Thanks!

It's like "I bought a Picasso". You don't need any more info :)

In that case I've owned two Picasso's in my life. Must be lucky! ;)

A kipper2k with 8mb for an A500 is only one thing. There's nothing else other than the cf ide controller.
-
Don't forget before kipper2 added the IDE interface he also had a 4MB and an 8MB board that was significantly smaller. It fit quite nicely with an Indivision adapter.
Adding the IDE interface and the CF socket really made the bugger quite a bit bigger and more awkward to work with.
Adding the spacer socket works a charm and doesn't affect timing at all.

I have the 8MB kipper board for the A500 (no IDE) complete with CPU adapter. He also did two versions of an A600 RAM card too, for which I have the 4MB version.
@TheMagicM - Due to how busy kipper must be with the Vampires, you might get your CPU adapter quicker by placing a wanted ad on Amibay.

damn. Well, I'll email him and see if he has any in stock just in case. If not..honestly, I can wait for the Vampire. I'll just finish putting together my A1200.

I have an A590 - worked when it was put away 15 years ago... make an offer. I'm in Australia.

Thanks. Not interested. I like the more modern solutions.

The V2 A500 version I have for testing has:
44 pin IDE at 10 megs per sec
SD card Reader (driver is a work in progress)
128 Megs of the fastest Amiga ram ever
68080 AMMX Gold Core (free download)
110 MIPS as standard I believe 20/30% more speed if you opt for the BLACK EDITION.
32 bit Picasso 96 GFX card with HDMI out, full RTG compatability, requires HDMI amp and 50hz capable monitor.
A2000 Compatibility through an add on card
and they are working on the card yet so the features are not final but this is close. FPU, 16 bit audio and AGA in the works. Core is updated and worked on DAILY. It's amazing the amount of work being done here.
They not only dev the core they test vampire specialized software and the Mac Emulation is to die for.
Im not selling these I feel like I have a piece of computing history.

Pfft I've got 3 Picasso's right now. :)

AGA?
So this will enable me to play AGA games on the A500? But not when its released right? Or is the 16bit audio and AGA planned for when its released also?
Any rough estimate on price when its released? Maybe around the same price of the A600 version?
-
Well, they're done with the "losing money" business model! At least with the V2-A600. Good on Kipper! :)

I'd pay 250 EU for a Vampire board for the A500. :-)
