Getting some help from a European builder with a parts list and want to see what kind of interest I would have for these here in the US. I would like to have some ready for AmiWest but don't think I will get the parts all together by then and have them built.
Depending on the numbers of confirmed orders will depend on the cost per unit. Its looking at being $40 - $45 each if I can get 20 minimum built. Please post in this thread if you are interested. Once I get more information on the project I will update it here.
More info on this switch can be found here:http://www.a1k.org/forum/showthread.php?p=303925

Definitely interested.

If you don't mind shipping further north I'm interested in one.

Canada will be fine, just need to bump the price a bit maybe to cover the extra shipping is all.
The only holdup currently is waiting on getting the boards made or waiting to see if Ratte will sell me a batch of 20+ blanks.
-
Are you just doing the boards or the MK2 adapter and the various cables too? I'd be interested in several complete sets but less interested in the board only.

They would be complete boards with cables like Highpuff does.

Sounds good. Then I'd be interested in 4 - 6 with various cable types.
Why the heck couldn't Jens have used the same connector on all the boards! :)

+1:) but not sure what this does exactly btw, asked this is the other 'switch' thread but no response so:
'hmmm not sure how this works, so with this switch I should be able to use one monitor with my 1200T and go between RTG and IndivisionAGA screens seamlessly??? right now I've got a 1080 and LCD and some screens don't promote to the LCD so this would solve my problem if I install an IndivisionAGA into my 1200T?? I'm assuming this gits beneath the Medatior board in a 1200T?'

These switches are used with an Amiga RTG card and your native RGB. Most people use them with Indivision connectors and a Graphics card. What it will allow you to do is use one monitor connection and the output with auto switch depending on the source coming out. As an example, if you are using WB in Picasso 96/cyber graphics output on your monitor and play a WHDLoad game it usually switches to native amiga out. You would have to have a mechanical switch or a 2nd monitor. This will detect the change and automatically send the signal through the same cable and to the monitor. You can hardly tell the video source changed at all. Its very cool.
If you don't use two video outputs on your Amiga its not of much use though. I use mine with my Radeon/Voodo on the mediator and the Indivision AGA out to my LCD monitor.
-
@ Acill
thanks for explaining:) now i know for sure I need one of these when available as I can free up desk space by using one monitor with my Mediator/Radeon setup in my 1200T

Also interested.

Quick update on this for those interested. I have the parts list and I am now looking for a good place to produce the blank PCB once I get the gerber files and drill maps from another builder.
Hope to have better news on the progress soon! If you know a good place that will produce small batches of boards, even a Chinese place let me know! The less I can have them made for the lower I can sell the final project.
-
Got my quote back to do 25 boards from China. If I made them at just my cost with a small charge for my time I can sell them at $60 which included insured tracked shipping.
Is this a worthwhile price to do? Let me know your thought and I will move forward if I get enough interest.
-
At that price, I think I'm withdrawing. Good luck though!

Really? Higpuff charges $58 after euro conversion for shipping one to the US. Waiting for a reply back from the place in China still. If I dont expedite the order it drops the price per board a lot. I may be able to do it for about $10 less at if they lower it down to where I think it will be. Here is the cost of just the boards alone before any parts are ordered to give an idea of what it takes to make these.

Sorry, that was probably not the best way to put it. Personally you know the real reason.

I know a board manufacturer in China that's very reasonable. If you would like contact info PM me.

I'll take one, just tell me how to pre-order/order mine and be glad to
-
I'll keep the thread posted. I am looking at a couple more options to get boards built. I think $60 is a tad high honestly and would like to see it closer to $50.

@Acill:
PCBs can be ordered at PCB-POOL.
PCB-Pool supports the org. SPRINT-LAYOUT format.

Woohoo! Give me a chance to get the PCBs in and see what digikey has in for the parts. That will tell me what the pre-orders will go for. It's getting close folks. I don't like taking money before I'm 100% sure of things.
-
The good news about Acill is that when he takes your money for a preorder he actually will immediately assemble your board and ship it out once the parts are there! He is very serious about this. Matter of fact he is OVER ordering parts to ensure he has a surplus and is taking less preorders than boards he is assembling.. so no risk to pre order here!
-
@ Acill
so when can we send you money for this Paul:hammer:
-
My wife just told me the boards all came in today. My plan is to start getting ready to order the remaining components to fill them. I plan to do 20 for the first batch and will be ordering enough parts to build 30. If all 30 work after testing them I will put the extras up as well. This will allow plenty of room for any failures.
I will not post a list before I know I can get all the parts. I do not want to take any money before knowing 100% that i can deliver. Its looking like they will be $45 shipped, and I will only be taking US and for a couple dollars extra Canada to allow for the shipping difference in price if required.
-
Paul isn't the only one doing that ;)
-
I am interested in a board
-
My real life job has had me out away from home for nearly two months now and is looking like its still going to be delayed. My top priority is to get the backlog of a few boards I have done and sent out when I get home this next weekend. I promise I will keep this thread updated as I get info on when I can start these. Trust me, I hate keeping people waiting as much as you hate having to wait.
-
Its nearly time at last!! I have just received word all parts to make the switch have been shipped. I will be making 16 to start out with and potentially another 5 or 6 more depending on how the builds go.
They will be $38 shipped in the US. I will NOT be collecting money before the parts get in and have one built to test. I've included a sample image of what they look like.
This is for the switch ONLY, all software must be downloaded and it will be linked along with the guide from a1k.org for install. Its rather simple. I am selling them low because its the switch only for now. The cables are super easy to get, and I will see about getting some made as well if I can get the parts. Why? Because with so many configurations, I can't stock all at once and I don't want to build these on demand for this first run.
Reply and add your name to this list, keep it complete so the next person can add a name below. If you are ordering more than 1 you put your name on multiple times, but dont be greedy please. I expect the parts to show up by the weekend.

I'm on the fence about getting one of these. I currently just use a Radeon with DVI connection, and then the Indivision MK1 with VGA out of my A4000D, which I'm assuming this wouldn't work correctly for (unless it would still handle killing the VGA signal, then the monitor would be able to auto-switch.)
But on the other hand, I'd like one day to put a Voodoo card in there, assuming I can find one where the seller isn't trying to gouge because "Hey, Amiga owners will pay 400 dollars for 20+ year old tech!" Pretty sure I've seen that same Voodoo 5 taunting me for 5 years at that price...
The Voodoo cards that I've seen only have VGA. So I would need this...
Okay, fine, you've twisted my arm, add me to that! (assuming it'll work with the Indivision AGA MK1, the connectors are different?)

It works fine. I use an Indivision and Radeon myself with this on my 4000T.
The cables for the indivision will be easy to get. I'm working with someone to help get enough sets for them. They are only a couple bucks though for any setup. Please add yourself to the list and past a new one to a reply if you want to reserve. They are going to go fast and I dont know how long it will take to make the next batch if I have more demand.

No more interest in these really? Can someone let me know what the issue is? I had nearly 30 people message me in the start stating they would want one at nearly twice the price. I got it down to $30 a unit now and am only adding another $8 for shipping 2 day in the US. Is this still to high? I will be making exactly $185 off this before even figuring in the time to build them if they all sold.
If I am charging wrong please let me know. If its something else please let me know that as well.

Maybe post in a couple other forums? Doubt you're reaching everyone here. If I had any use for one I'd order. Good luck! :)

Maybe because it's buried in this thread? Maybe it would be better to make a new thread that says they are ready in the subject line?
The reason I am suggesting this is based on a guess. The first message said you were trying to see how much, if any, interest there was. Maybe they thought that's all this thread is about so once they expressed interest they ignored this thread.
Like I said, just guessing but that's the only reason I can think of other than #amigausers.
