The second Amiga Users Ireland meetup is this January 21st, 2017 in the Prince of Wales Hotel. Bring your Amiga or come and see what we've tricked ours out to do. Some interesting talks, competitions, gaming, spot prizes and more. See attached and book early to avail of the early price!
See some new Amiga hardware demo'd as well as some recent software for our thirty year old computers like the new Dropbox client.
There will also be at least one stall/shop for Amiga hardware and software if you want to do some retro shopping - maybe 4MB of RAM for the misuss, sir?
Missed last year? See this: https://www.instagram.com/p/BH9fjD7jDQI/
This year: Larger space, more events, spot prizes and a very special guest. Last year we had the untoppable David Pleasance and the surprise guest(s) this year will pique everyone's interest.
There is another surprise already in the post but you will need to be there on the day to find out what it is! I promise, you will not be disappointed. Last year, people left with Amiga wifi cards, games, badges and more.
Meet like minded folks and immerse yourself in the past and future of Amiga lovliness. We have grown to over seventy members and had twenty turn up on the day. Let's get as many together now and enjoy the new, better, more organised (!) event. Test your knowledge (and your luck) with the ten-minute table quiz.
Hotel discounts for those of you wanting to stay overnight.
Book before October to be able vote on what games and stands will be set up on the day. Keep an eye for further anouncement towards the end of the year (http://b-static.net/vbulletin/images/smilies/smile.png)

Is such event existed between 1998 to 2002?
Kamelito

Not by these organisers, no. Our last meeting was great fun and the aim is to make this one even better!
-
This seems quite interesting :)
-
That's quite an interesting name for your Instagram account, sir. :D
Hope you have a great event! :)
-
The first meeting was great! Really looking forward to January!
My son loved it and has caught the Amiga bug :)

The Amiga is a veeeery strong addiction ;)
-
I hope to be in attendance.

Since I don't live in Ireland anymore I won't be there. It is not even compatible with kids holydays :(

I will be in Ireland for work next month (September). Any chance this could be moved forward to then? ;)

Hehe, that actually belongs to Kenny who made the video.

I'm glad we have another convert :=) This one is shaping up to be very interesting. We'll have Amiga podcasters, magazine authors, hardware and software developers there it seems :)
I hope to be in attendance.
Fantastic :-)

That's a pity kamelito. I hadn't thought of syncing with kids holidays (even though I have one in primary school myself). Would it have made a difference? It's something I'll keep in mind for next time.

Prowler, I just caught up on this thread now - I'm so sorry I missed you. I was here in September. The event is in Athlone but I'm living in Galway. Where was your work?
-
Ah, if there is another Commodore Amiga Ireland event in September, then I can get to that one. :)

Event or no, it would be nice to get a few people together. PM me when you know your plans and where you need to be and we'll see what we can do :)

Kenny and the Amiga Ireland meet organizers...
... will be posting up a demo of 40 digitally remastered Amiga sound tracks in the next few days. They sound pretty damn hot, but any credit for that goes to the original musicians. They will be a mixture of MP3, Ogg and FLAC, and won't sound good on a real Amiga unless you are running on a Vampire. But they should give an idea of what a proposed sound processor will produce, when connected to the audio output jacks of a real Amiga.
The whole thing was done as a technology demonstrator for a possible add on, like the Omega and Pyramid sound enhancers. Work with any Amiga for quality boost of standard 8 bit playback, with no accelerator overhead. The difference is, it's a proper digital enhancement, and produces much better output. Not as good as a Delfina for quality, but more connectable for those without a clock port.
The hardware to do this WAS ludicrously expensive 20 years ago, but is now affordable. I'm aiming for a $100 price point or less (UK has never had it so good for manufacturing hardware). Rasp Pi and USB sound stick, not that much really. :)
EDIT: That was quick, I thought it was going to take me longer. Link to download on this thread;-

Watch this space, they WILL be downloadable, not just youtube streams. I've got even more impressive uploads of native Amiga code on the way for visuals, but this one is definitely timed to go out in time for Amiga Ireland to play and wow some crowds. The DR 8bit audio hould be up and available for download by the weekend.
I even put a ringer in there for people to try to tell the difference, and you can download most if not all of the original mods for comparison. I didn't cheat. :)

I'd love to attend but sadly this clashes with another trip. I'll hopefully make the next!
