Hi All, Been a while, you know once you climb that mountain of getting your classic Amiga upgraded and running great you kind of sit back and just enjoy it. Okay, now can someone please tell me where I am supposed to put the Miami-Mui-Gui file so I can then install the software. I have it in my Sys:System/Mui folder but that doesn't seem to work.
So if someone knows exactly where it should be, please let me know.
Much appreciated,
Brad Hansen

What file are you talking about, specifically? I have MiamiDX and use it regularly, just did a quick search on my SYS: partition and didn't find anything named "Miami-Mui-Gui".
If your install of it is mucked up you may just want to re-run the installer, in my experience Miami is probably the easiest of the Amiga TCP stacks to install & configure.
(I know, I'm opening myself all up to flames by saying that, lol) :p
-
Mike, sorry, the file is Mui.miamigui and when I run the MiamiDX install, it aborts with "Sorry, you need Mui.miamigui to complete this installation". I would love to just install Miami, which worked great for me but I can not find .lha file for it.
Thanks
-
I think you may be running a different version from me. Project --> About menu shows mine as version 1.0c (10.04.2000). I believe that was the last version of MiamiDX before the author rage-quit the community.
In any case, I found a similar file - "MUI.MiamiDxGui" in SYS:Internet/MiamiDX/Libs/
(screenshot attached)
I put all of my Internet-related stuff into SYS:Internet, obviously your path may be different if you chose different install options.
BTW, I believe you can download the complete installer off Aminet. And then just google for a key. Miami is one of those programs that I would love to register, but the author... Ugh. :(

http://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/MiamiDx10c-MUI
Unpack them both into the same directory, then all is in the right place and you can install it.
Miami is available there:
http://aminet.net/search?query=miami32
Same procedure as above. You need the main archive, one of the CPU archives, one of the GUI archives and optionally one of the locale archives.

Interesting... is this old or does this mean he is getting back into development for it?

Mike, Thomas, Thank you for the Help. I have it installed now. Next is the MiamiSSL installation and now I can't get it going. The install is asking for a MiamiSSL encryption library.
There is a file in the package MiamiSSLusa.encyp something but the installation process does not recognize it and crashes. Do I need to rename this file or put it some where else?
Much appreciate your help.

I have to write it, I really do.
I LOVE installing Amiga software, it is almost 50% of whole Amiga experience (other 50% to make hardware work ;) ). On different system, you simply click OK (like 50 times) or drop "icon" into Applications = booooring. AmigaOS - noooo waaayyyyy you spend hours, days, week or even months... to make Internet going, just to see how Ibrowse 2.3 (2.4?!) works (I mean do not work ;) ).
I know, I really like my Amiga's, I really do.

Hey now, Ibrowse works great... for downloading updates to other programs from Aminet, lol.
I would love to see continued development on both Miami and Ibrowse, and would be glad to put my money where my mouth is. But the latter I'd be lucky to see in my lifetime, and the former... yeah, I won't hold my breath. :(

I know, I'm not going to say anything new, but I will say it. If there is no new software and in particular 100% working web browser for classic (emulated) AND AmigaOS4.1 there is no ANY future for this computer (is there any "present"currently for Amiga?).
How many times, we all ask this question: What can I do on Amiga? I will not spend $2500 for A5000 type of computer and later ask this question: What can I do on this computer? Instead of "developing" new motherboars that support AmigaOS we NEED software (usefull software).
Beside this AmigaOS really don't offer nothing "amazing" today (sorry!) from regular Jo Regular User, as me. My phone is better...
OK. I'm done, sorry for off topic, but I just need to get this out of me once in a while (in public ;) ).
-
Seems to me Roadshow and Netsurf, when it's done will be quite useful. Progress is being made!
-
@krecui
Didn't you ever think it's just "amazing" that we have a choice?
and since you have a choice not to buy a x5000...don't...
But let us who want to spend our money our way, do so! I want a 5040!!
I really wish I knew why you keep "beating your dead horse".
PLEASE, can you let up for a while?
to the thread sorry for the OT

I would say it's old, since it mentions Miami 2.x. The latest available version is 3.2b

Miami needs a separate encryption library. Due to export regulations the file was not available on aminet. Here is a link for the library: MiamiSSLIntl10.lha (http://helenvivet.free.fr/Amiga/PhpMyExplorer/download.php3?fichier=MiamiSSLIntl10.lha&chemin=.&taille=133631)

Miami was available commercially for a time in the late 90s. AmigaKit probably had some old stock of that version at one point and have since run out.

People always saying about a need of new browser. Chris is porting his OS4 Netsurf to OS3.5/9 and he has got almost zero help from community.
Simple tests like "is you amiga dispalying these images correctly" remains unanswered.
It is beta state, but it requires just 32mb ram to be useable. With Amiga friendly sites like amigaworld.net is not that fast than ibrowse, but more complez sites like this is it almost as fast. Amiga.org loads and displays right about 20 seconds now.
With AGA "cache native versions" from settings, makes page scrolling faster than with old Zorro II/III cards. AGA has serous color problems anyway.

First Lizard, thanks for the link. My accelerator board only Carries 32 megs,so it won't run Netsurf.
Which I'm sure is the case for a lot of users. So kudos to the gent who ported it to OS3...

Netsurf works nicely and is useable with 32mb ram. I have tested it my 040/060 machines.
Arthur's fork requires more ram and there is separate versions for aga and rtg.
Chris' semi official port uses amiga standard libraries intuition etc. so it is useable more low specced systems and there is only one version for all systems.
-
Sorry, but your message makes no sense. There's different forks but only one version for all systems, huh? When my machine gets through loading 3.9 I have 29 mgs free and netsurf will not load.

There's Chris's version and Artur's version (two different programmers both working to adapt the application for Amiga). Both have been covered extensively in other threads here (actually there's several other versions as well which are not relevant to this thread).
IMHO Chris's version is the better of the two on real Amiga's and is the only version I could ever get working, personally. Artur's is more suited to high-spec emulated systems (WinUAE). FWIW I could never get it working with less than 64MB, either.
Oh look, here's an old video I made. :p

Here is Netsurf 3.6 on Amiga 1200 / 040 / 32mb ram / AGA

Sorry, but I noticed that your 0/40 machine is listed as 34 mgs of fast ram, add 2 mgs chip ram and that's 36.
That said where can I download Chris's version to run on my 32 mg system?
Thanks

32mb fast ram + 2mb chip ram makes 34mb ram total.
Dandy's link has a experimental build targeted to 68000 cpu, to solve / debug some possible problems with 68060 cpu. I haven't tested it, so I can't say how well it performs.

Hi All, Okay downloaded Chris's version, seems I was trying to run Arthur's. Same result.
When I get through loading my system and starting Genesis I have about 30 megs left.
I also have installed the guigfx and render libriaries in my libs directory. But the same things
happens which is basically nothing. Will run SnoopDos but I am not a programer so...

Here is Netsurf 3.6 on Amiga 1200 / 040 / 32mb ram / AGA
It's no fun if you have to strip out every non-essential function of the operating system, can't run with more than 1 tab open, etc. I guess you could say it runs, but does it run well? That's not to knock Chris's version at all, I know he's done (and is doing) great work on it, but when folks are splitting hairs over whether it runs with 30MB free, and doesn't run with 29MB free... LOL. *sigh* :griping:
In any case, this thread was about Miami. Anyone else have any questions about that? :D

Humm - AmiSSLv3.6 is also too old.
I have it installed, but YAM refused to connect to my T-Online account with it.
I had to download YAM v 2.10 dev, which has built-in TLS 1.0 support, to get access to my T-Online account again.

Hi All, I am continuing this thread because I still have no solution for my issue. Which is
basically I am trying to mount Google Drive on my A1200. I have communicated with the
developer and he told me that MiamiDX was what was needed to run to get it to mount. But
I can not install MiamiSSL. I have gotten the Library file that was needed but I am still getting
the same Error that says I need the Library file. Has someone succeeded in mounting Google
drive on 3.x systems if so please let me know your setup. I am running AmiSSL, at least I installed it and it looks like it setup correctly. How do I make sure it's running?
Appreciate any feed back.

In a thread at amiga-news.de (German only) (http://www.amiga-news.de/de/forum/thread.php?id=20919&BoardID=1) it is said that you need "miamisslintl.library" (http://www.bugss.org/ftp/pub/vapor/voyager/miamissl/MiamiSSLIntl10.lha) to be able to install MiamiSSL.
Apparently this is v1 of the miamisslintl.library. It should be copied to the MiamiSSL drawer, they say.
A later version of this library is said to be downloadable here: "miamisslintl.library V2.21" (http://amiga.serveftp.net/MiscFiles/MiamiDX.lha)
I did not know MiamiDX was an requirement for the Google Drive handler.
I have the registered version of Amiga Cloud Handlers and use the DropBox handler. It gets mounted, but up to now I can get no access to my DropBox - but that's another story. I also run the registered version of MiamiDX.
-
You don't need MiamiDx, just any TCP/IP software will do (Miami, Genesis, Roadshow, AmiTCP). And you don't need any separate SSL library. At least according to the readme Google Drive Handler has its own SSL library (a port of OpenSSL) built in. You only need to set the SSLROOT assign right.
