Title: Question regarding new floppy drive for A4000D
Post by: spudje on July 19, 2016, 10:40:41 PM
Want to buy a new floppy drive for my Amiga 4000, since I need a slim one to fit two 3,5" devices in there. I need it as DF0:, a DD is just fine.

I found drives on AmigaKit, Vesalia and Amigastore.eu. At the first two stores you have to select whether it will be DF0 or DF1. At Amigastore.eu (Sony drive) you don't. But I'd like to buy at amigastore.eu since they have some other stuff I want to combine in one order.

Can anyone explain what would have to be done to a floppydrive for making it a DF0 or DF1 or why not (amigastore).

Thanks!

Amigastore is probably just shipping the more common DF0 model. I've converted a few PC drives in the past and most of them it's just a solder jumper (DS1/DS0), a few (mostly older) have an actual switch.
