So, I got the MMR I bought and was getting ready to install it and noticed it doesn't have any of the SRAM onboard.
Is this necessary? I read the manual and it mentions using the SRAM to load Kickstart.
Will this greatly affect performance with no SRAM installed?

The SRAM is optional, MMR works also without it.

Well then I guess I have my project for this weekend!

Necessary? No. If you have the ram board then you can still use the MMU to load kickstart into 32bit ram. If you don't have the ram board either then yes it will greatly affect performance.

According to the manual you can use the static ram as normal memory as well, if you can find the chips then it's worth getting them.

RAM board is attached and full.
May try to find the SRAM chips. Not a priority, but will keep and eye out for them.
I see in the manual they're 128K X 8. Anyone know the specific chip number and a location to find them, other than ebay?
