Now that I finally got my hands in a brand new, yes, brand new, never used (Mech Ware) PCD-60B SCSI multi-card reader, I am wondering if it would be feasible to install it inside my A3000, right next to the the FDD (DF0).
That space is for now still occupied by a 202MB SCSI HDD, that I don't use any more, since I'm using a SCSI2SD device.
If anyone has done this, could you please share pictures showing its installation sitting inside the unit?
And perhaps, I'm trying to push this too far, but I was also hoping to be able to replace that old FDD with a Gotek. Is this too much?
Any installations tips will be greatly appreciated.

Just going from memory, the card reader is physically slightly longer than a comparable 3.5" hard drive. When I put one in my A500 sidecar I had to remove the top cover and bezel. In an A3000 I think it would fit without those modifications as long as it's not physically too long, although you might still need to do a little trimming around the edges of the bezel.
For what it's worth they fit perfectly in an A2000 with no modifications. Here's my favorite picture of mine. ;)

My biggest concern is with the width left to the right of my FDD. Maybe length wise I should be fine.

I'll check with my handy local computer tech, used to old computer mods to see if he could pull this off.
I'm still debating whether to swap the FDD for that Gotek at the same time I do this job.

That is one super clean a3000!

The pcd-60b is standard floppy width. You should be able to fit it inside(assuming length clears). It can replace scsi2sd and should be faster. but it seems you have external case on the 3000,and it would be ideal external and you could get to all the slots. If the slot in the 5.25external case is free, just get a 3.5 floppy to 5.25 bay adapter. i don't see why you couldn't keep the floppy and add a gotek if you care to.

Using the space vacant in the sidecar, on top, of the CD RW unit is a great idea. Then all I will have to do is to change ID/LUN to make that unit the bootable one.
I'm wondering if I will still be able to use the SCSI2SD unit inside my 3000 as a storage unit. I tried to format a second one SCSI2SD and microSD, now inside the sidecar but I was never successful. It was never visible unless I added a SYS bootable partition.
Regarding the Gotek, I do have an external FDD and space for a second one. But the question is how can I start auto-run games from an external Gotek setup as DF1 or DF2, in my case? Note that enclosure was made by the previous owner. I do not know what the "enable" switch in the back is for.
