Title: Indivision AGA in my A4000T !!!!
Post by: Acill on June 10, 2016, 05:34:13 AM
Woot, spent the evening removing a cap, remotely locating it (look to the left of the indi and you can see it) and fired right up. Love this dang thing!! Why did I wait so long??? This thing KILLS my toastscan!

Oh and I had to show off my awesome WB on my Radeon 9250 too! ;)

Congratulations! If you are interested I did a blog post a while back on how to optimise the indivision aga configuration on the A4000T for filling out the full display for pal and ntsc screenmodes for games, demos, etc that don't use the workbench screen.

Hopefully it is of some use to you!

wow I never had any lines or anything wrong with my IndiAGA right out of the box but always had a small black border around my monitor so I guess I'll try this tool setup you mentioned in your blog to get rid of that border, thanks:)

I'm having trouble understanding the setup tool. My Indi came set new at 800x600 60HZ. This doesn't fill my monitor screen as you can see in my pictures here. Using the tool I cant get the overscan to increase at all. I can use other screen modes and select test, but the higher the resolution I select, the smaller the image displayed gets.

Does anyone have a config saved that is being used on a 24" wide screen display? I'd like to try it out.

On my A4000D I'm using the HighGFX monitor on the Amiga side and then I'm using a 1024x768 @75Hz VGA mode.   My monitor (Dell ST2420LB) stretches it out to fill the wide screen 24" size.  Looks fantastic.

Thanks for being so great to us all! I got the screen mode looking better as well. That config tool is junk, but it works once you figure it out and play with it.

SWEET!  I got an Indivision AGA from AmigaKit for my 1200 but haven't installed it yet.  What he heck am I waiting for!?!?  Is it the same exact board for the 4000?

Not the same between A1200 and A4000 (unless it's the A4000T).

A1200/A4000T or A4000D/CD32 models available.

Here's my A4000 with the Indivision using the Xtreme monitor file and the demo HAM8 image included with that monitor.   1280x1024xHAM8.  (monitor stretches the image to fill the widescreen display).

Same as mine yes. 4000T and 1200 share the same boards.

1280x1024xHAM8.  (monitor stretches the image to fill the widescreen display).

I know with some you can disable that stretching, but that's why I always preferred the old 4:3 aspect ratio screens with Amiga.  Unfortunately they're hard to find in anything much larger than 20"...  :(

I wish there some more options bigger than 20" for proper 4:3.

I've got an eBay alert set for the Pioneer PDP-402 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OJeOFQFAy4) and Hantrex PD40 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9jI9C8DgME) (40" 4:3 plasma's) but I've never seen one for sale in Australia :(

The stretched display doesn't bother me that much...disable the auto fit and having the black bars on the side bothers me more.  My choice in this monitor was that it also supports the Amiga native modes (Dell ST2420LB).

In my opinion the best monitor aspect ratio for display Amiga modes is 5:4 (the same as native). Unfortunately this ratio is only found in 17" or 19" monitors. I use XTREME mode (made especially for Indi AGA) for Workbench (1280 x 1024) on my Dell 1708FP with the same native resolution. It gives me just perfect, razor sharp display.

For games and demos I have defined 640 x 512 VGA mode. Then Indivision upscales the image 2x and monitor again upscales 2x, adding a bit of blur, which is nice effect. Image takes the whole screen without any borders.

Of course gaming experience is better on big displays, but then they are mostly 16:10 or 16:9 so one either has to stretch the image horizontally (which is done by monitor) or have vertical black bars on the sides (which can be either done by monitor or Indivision).

Any chance I can have a copy of your config file? I would like to try it out on mine.

Thanks for the info Acill and SnkBitten!  Can't wait to install one on my 1200. Cheers!  -- Bill
