I just purchased a Gotek drive and would like to configure this drive as a DF1: external drive.
I am not sure how to get this drive working. You have to copy the file selector.adf in the root? I have done this and the LED display shows 003. There are three ADF files installed on my USB stick (FAT32 formatted).
In Workbench my drive is shown as DF1:????
IS it possible to configure this floppy emulator as a DF1: drive?

Did you boot the selector ADF and assign disk images to slots?
To be honest, I never tried using it as DF1, but I assume you'll need to select slot #0 on the Gotek, then run the selector program manually.

Did you buy one that was already flashed for use on the Amiga, or did you flash it yourself?

It's one already flashed for Amiga.
If I want to use it as a DF1: drive, how can I boot the selector.adf? How do I assign disk images to slots??

Have you tried it as DF0 to confirm its working correctly?

ok, I went and tried it out on my A600.
Externally, it still needs to be set to S0.
I don't know if it needs the selector.adf, but I assume it doesn't.

Just thinking about it.
The "selector.adf" allows you to select what ADF images appear in what slots on the gotek, that you can then select with the buttons and led display.
As far as I can recall, mine didn't show more than 000 to choose from till I'd selected which files were which slot...

The problem with these gotek drives is they dont work well as an extra drive. This is why I removed it from my A4000T. In order to use disk images you have to boot this drive with that selector/adf at the root of a properly configured flash disk. The menu it boots into is the only way to assign disks to slots that the buttons on the front match. 000 is the selector, 001 - like 999 is self assigned one by one from images on that flash drive.
You cant simply put in an image and use it or access it directly from the USB flash drive through Workbench as if it was a USB drive on a PC or using a real USB stack on an amiga with a USB card installed.

This is true and a major drawback for the use of Gotek. I wish there was a way to use it the Gotek as a normal floppy drive to be able to access the adf from within WB when needed (non auto run games). This would be great to load adf of applications for instance.
For now, I continue using Diskimage GUI to mount and use adf.

Could you explain how you managed to get that working? That would be great if you can access the Gotek drive from WB!

I tried my Gotek drive as an external drive. Put the jumper to S0 and copied the selector.adf to the root of my usb stick and a couple of games.
I managed to get it working but....... Assigned some games to the slots and selected slot 1 and my Amiga booted from that slot.
Then I wanted to try some different adf files (Pinball game) and copied them to my usb stick.
Rebooted my Amiga but this time the drive does not work. The led displays ---
Not sure what's going wrong here???
