Title: A3000 Paula Chip Replacement
Post by: Acill on June 02, 2016, 01:31:17 AM
I just got an A3000 mainboard in to repair that looks like a train ran it over it. The Paula chip has some real bad solder work done on the underside of the board. I dont trust it at all just looking at it.

Can a Paula chip from any other model work as long as its the same chip package, like an A500 version for example? I see lots on ebay that are listed as A500/A500+

From what I understand, Paula was never updated apart from the physical chip packaging so any version should work.

It very much looks like it http://www.bigbookofamigahardware.com/bboah/product.aspx?id=1490

I imagine the surface mount ones could be put on a board that adapts it to DIP as well if you were really desperate.
