Title: F/A 18 Interceptor Code Wheel
Post by: MattM on February 28, 2004, 02:17:59 AM
I brought my old Amiga 2000 out of the closet and am trying to fire up some of the games I used to play years ago. I am looking for a copy of or where I can buy the code wheel for the EA game F/A Interceptor. Anyone got any ideas? Know of a place where the code wheel could be downloaded?

Thanks

MattM

Well, I hav F/A 18 Interceptor as well, but I have a promo version that lets you use it without the wheel..............................but anyway.if you own the game..............then just download the WHDload Harddrive Installed version.............its ready to run from Hard drive and probably doesnt need the code wheel......................try Back2TheRoots.org.they might have it.

I borrowed that game once. First game I ever saw on an Amiga. I only managed to use the wheel once. It just wouldn`t listen after that. Extremely annoying!

I had the same problem. I had to get a cracked version of the game because it just wouldn't accept the codewheels answers.

I had the same problem. I lent the game to someone who returned it a year later - minus the wheel.

I can't remember how we figured this out, and it's a far from ideal solution, but we somehow remembered two codes and their corresponding entries. If you keep re-selecting an option until either B5A5 comes up, its correct entry code is 231.

Similarly if 0000 comes up, its code is 000.

That's what we used to do anyway, although as I say, it's far from ideal as it involves a lot of re-selecting and aborting because, as I'm sure you're aware, if you enter the wrong code three times the game refuses any more attempts and you have to reboot.

Still, might be worth a shot until you get a wheel sorted out. It's too good a game to consign to the back shelf.

I could probably scan the code wheel if anyone still needs it, I should have F18 floating about somewhere in the cupboard.

Hi Odin,

Thanks for that offer but I'm just wondering if this would work?

As far as I can remember, the code wheel involved several rotating discs which needed to be spun a certain way so that the code you were being prompted for would appear in one of the little windows on the wheel.

I'm not sure if scanning the wheel would provide you with the ability to do this. Still it might be worth a go.

Take it apart, scan all 3 wheels, print them off, cut them out and join them together.

Ya know,  actually wrote the company to replace my code wheel when it got lost, and they wrote back saying they would- for $44.95.

That was of course back when it was current. What really
pissed me off was I only lost ONE of the wheels that had
fallen off of the brad that held them together from
wear and tear.

Cool game, though. Good luck!

Why bothering to use always the codewheel? :-?

I suggest you to download the WHDLoad USR archive from www.whdload.de and then the installer for F/18 Interceptor from there.  :-D

Not that you can play the game from your HD without degrading or anything else doing monkeystyle, you also can use full caches (game will get smoother if you have a faster CPU). Also the patch will remove the codewheel check so you don't need to bother with that again :-)

Try it and register WHDLoad, the best tool made for Amiga imo!!!  8-)

Well, that is meant for HD owners. Don't know if your A2000 has a HD or not :-)

Right I've scanned the little bugger. I won't link to it here, not wanting to endanger A.Org or anything. Pmail me for the location.

Didn't some of those old disk copiers also remove that protection? I think RawCopy used to do that. I actually have the code wheel somewhere around here as well, but I think I also have a cracked copy of F18.

I have a similar problem with Worms for my CD32 - no manual, therefore no way to get past the copy protection :(

I highly doubt he has a Hard-Drive in his CD32.

Its a shame as well, as Worms is a perfect game for when people visit...
