Title: Quality VGA Splitters, do they exist?
Post by: XDelusion on April 05, 2016, 10:07:13 PM
I ordered a pair of these, but they ad grain to my image where I do not have it without them.

So what I'd like to know is if there are alternatives that do work and don't cost a fortune?

You really need something active. The problem with a passive splitter is it messes up the carefully matched source, line and dest impedance required to get good signal integrity and remove any reflections.

To get the best results with your passive splitter, make sure the splitter itself plugs into the source and use two equal length vga cables.

No, I don't need a switcher, I need to clone the display.

Realized that after the fact. Sorry. Here is a reasonably priced splitter.

http://www.amazon.com/Port-VGA-Video-Splitter-Monitors/dp/B00TL1MXVS/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1459892890&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=vga+splitter&psc=1

Powered type reduces signal loss that you discovered from "Y" cable splitter.

Probably not the same company but one like it. Used 1 to 2 and 1 to 4 back in the VHS company days in our Technical Dept. The powered type is the only only way to go. Just keep your Cable Footage to "what you need" even though the specs give you a crazy length.

Cheers!!

Thanks, I'll give it a go.
