Title: Non tracker music software
Post by: miguel_out on April 04, 2016, 08:20:21 PM
Hi there, I'm new in amiga world and interested on music software. I'm looking for something that allows me to play music straight from the amiga keyboard but with the possibility of using different instruments; bass, drums, guitar...
I don't like trackers so octamed is not for me.
I'm using an A600, 1Mb ram with 4Gb HD and Kickstart 3.1
What are my options?

Start basic, try Amiga Appetizer or why not DMCS?. Worked nice for me back in the day and is easy to get the hang of :)

You might like SuperJam. You can set a "band" playing in a number of different styles and then play notes or chords on top of that with a number of different instruments. MIDI compatible, very powerful, especially when paired with Bars and Pipes. A little tight with 1MB of RAM, but it should work (get yourself a trapdoor expansion to go up to 2MB).

DMCS is a more "traditional" kind of music program in which you put notes on a staff. Very easy to use. Deluxe Music 2.0, its successor, is my go-to whenever I need to sound out a couple of notes.

Thanks for your comments. I'll try all of them.
I think that I should increase my memory up to 2Mb.
I'm also interested in a synthesizer. Any recommendations?

Had just been looking at Aegis Sonix on youtube shortly before you posted this.  It looks like really cool piece of software and pretty ground breaking for it time.
