Title: Amiga 4000 'weak audio'
Post by: matt3k on March 22, 2016, 05:13:08 PM
Hi All,

I recently sent my 4000D out to get recapped and now I'm testing it out.

The audio will only come through either the right or left channel but not both at the same time.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

So if you plug RCA cables into both ports, you get no sound at all?

I'd go back to whoever did the recapping, it's possible that the wrong cap got slipped in there somewhere, or one is a little bit loose?

Definitely sounds like a cap issue. Just had my 1200 and 500 done by maccaps.com and everything was improved... The audio and video was amazingly improved.

That is where I sent my 4k to and it wasn't fixed.

He was suppose to look for bad traces and put new caps.

Now I have a nice 4000 with shiny caps that didn't fix the problem that I sent it to him for.

I will see if I can get lucky and see a bad trace or something...

Disappointed to say the least.

If I recall his posts correctly, he doesn't have diagnostic equipment for Amiga's, or a test bench setup.  Might need to bump it on up the chain to the next guy, Mr. Antarctica, what's his name, Anthony?

Sounds like you may have other problems besides just caps, though.  Good luck!
