Title: looking for reseller
Post by: drawn on March 20, 2016, 12:58:19 AM
Hello, I came back into the forum because last time about a year back I couldn't  find a re seller that sold new Amiga computers, the new OS4.x computers...at that time there weren't any available. I should say they are re sellers, just no Amiga's to sell. So Has anything changed this year 2016?  if not I would like to know if there is any specific reason, or what are the manufacturers (Amiga) intentions?.. Thank you.

This store has new Amiga's listed:

Amigastore.eu got new A1200 cases, NOT hardware, but thats about it.
The NG Amigas are TBA/Out of stock.
There are MIST FPGA computers tho.

Do you have an Amiga already? Be it A600, A500 or A1200?

Then you could consider Vampire accelerator;

http://www.kipper2k.com/accel600.html

The A500 version (which probarly will work with A1000/2000 too) is not TOO far off completion.

Performance?

Not quite what you where looking for I guess, but getting new NG systems is still a waiting game since I belive X1000 is all sold out, X5000 is in beta (?) and Tabor ...alpha phase..?
The producers of Sam460 lists them as "out of stock" https://acube-systemsbiz.serversicuro.it/shop/en/14-case-systems
Same with motherboards https://acube-systemsbiz.serversicuro.it/shop/en/5-sam-motherboards

Atm the most active and open part of the community is Vampire for CLASSIC machines.
It does require you to pick up a secondhand A600 (or 500/1000/2000 soonish).
If this sparked some intrest, developers of the card frequent IRC more or less daily;

irc.freenode.org
port 6667
Join channel #apollo-team

Sorry for semi offtopic, but I decided to do a broad Amiga comment since NG is a bit between two chairs atm the moment.

Another option is MorphOS that runs on old PPC Mac's. Pretty good OS, very fast and easy to get up and running. You can try it for free and buy it if you like it.

Careful of the "Got Ya!"
Some old ppc macs have nvidia video cards...morphos only works with radeon cards.

After I ran into this issue, the morphzone told me I wasn't smart enough to use a computer.

Amigakit.

Or if you're after NG Amiga stuff, try Acube directly.  If interested, x000 stuff through A-EON and their retail partners.  Amigakit has lots of legacy Amiga stuff, as well as a good NG selection.  For things like FPGA solutions or newer accelerators like the Vampie, Google is your friend.  Not hard to find.

Not hard to find.  The largest Amiga around reseller (by proxy - A-EON owns Amiga.org, and Amigakit are tied in with them in some capacity) owns these forums, after all.

Smart move would be ask from aCube directly. They produce small batches when they got enough orders.

On this page, you find a list of hardware that is directly supported by MorphOS 3.x:

Plenty of models to choose from! :)

this is how the hardware able to run os4 is being refered to, in distinction to the genuine amigas.

It would sure be nice if your avatar picture were appropriate for a computer hobbyist forum, this ain't a porn site.

An NG Amiga is considered to be any of the newer, non legacy (Commodore etc) Amiga systems, such as the PPC powered A1/SAM/X*000 boards that run AmigaOS 4.1, or the PPC Mac's capable of running MorphOS, or PC's running AROS.

NG, for somebody who never watched Star Trek.  Just scratch out "Star Trek" and write "Amiga".

The System link points to a Sam440ep-Flex system. Not Sam460.

Wow.  That's what I get for not reading the fine print.
Who would think you could still get a 440ep system these days?

You could always buy an Amiga (of any kind) from a previous owner...

There's worse than that one here to be fair.
