Title: Expanded A4000D in Ateo Tower - Sale Questions
Post by: BuBBoB on February 21, 2016, 07:53:47 PM
Hello fellow Amigans, it's been a very long time since I posted in here (so long in fact that I had to set up a new account) but it is good to be back. I hope this is the most appropriate location for this post and that you will be patient with an old fart who has forgotten many things Amiga related.
So, let's get to the nitty gritty. I have been finding more and more over the years less reason to use my old miggy with both Winuae and CSS64 fulfilling my "retro" needs. The old girl has not been fired up for over 18 months and I think time has come to sell her. This is what she comprises;

A4000D in Ateo Tower case. (Battery removed many years ago slight seepage at time but cleaned up)
Cyberstorm Mk3 060 50mhz with 128mb ram (Not PPC)
Picasso IV (break out board still unbroken)
Paloma TV module for PicassoIV
Concertio Audio Module for PicassoIV
Base 10T BNC network adapter
Combined Serial and Parallel port card

Without opening the case I cannot yet give manufacturer, versions numbers etc.

Now for the questions;

1) I need to see if it all works (I know it did) but do I dare just "switch on" and see? What (if anything) should I check for first?
2) Would it be significantly easier and more profitable to sell the parts separately rather than as a complete unit?
3) I have some of the original boxes for the cards (damn I still even have receipts for the Picasso - remember DKB anyone?) is it really worth trying to find them? Are they worth anything to anyone?
4) I want to sell to someone who will love and care for the old girl, is here the best place to sell? I want a fair price no more no less. Although I could put her on Fleabay for $35,000.00 because she is a "super Rare" example :lol:

5) What is a fair price for the above?

Any advise would be greatly appriciated.

Best regards, BuBBoB.

p.s. Thank you for your patience

True Dan true, but I haven't even had an answer to question 1 yet so I dunno if it even works :laughing:

If it works I will take photos and put out for more estimates.

CS MK III ~ 650 GBP
Picasso IV + rare Concierto etc. ~ 450 GBP
A4000D + tower ~ 400 GBP

It's more profitable and easier to sell the parts separately than try to find someone who's interested in the whole lot. Definitely worth searching for the original boxes, they increase the value even more.

Would be worth about $1500 in my local market.

As the others have said, you'd get far more out of it by splitting it up.

It only takes one finger to find out; but I'd pop the case and check for loose connections first (I got bit by a dislodged RAM chip that took out a trace on the motherboard.

Awesome Setup there, if it's all in good working order it's worth a bit. As the others have said it will sell for more parted out. You could head over to Amibay - setup an account and stick a price on it and see what happens.

Robert.

There was a couple of A4000's sold on UK ebay last week which fetched a lot.of £. I remember one of them for sure was a complete setup similar to yours.
Might be worth while checking the ebay completed auctions to get an idea.

Ok peeps, thank you for your views. I guess I will have to switch her on and see what happens. I will hold on this for a day or so to see if anyone posts warnings of things to check for first.
Meantime a couple more questions. What is the best way to sell items if separated out. Ideally the buyers for all the bits would arrive on the same day but that ain't gonna happen. How can I give the best service to the buyer but minimise the risk of getting ripped off myself? All suggestions welcome :)

Best regards, Bub.
