While trying to solve my .LHA issue I decided that if I re-installed all the Boing Ball
add ons that might fix it. It did not and the immediate affect of that was to wonk up
my AmiTCP stack with broke my Genesis. Now I was using a wifi pcmcia card for my
internet and now it doesn't work. So I had to go back to step 1 since I did not remember
how I set it up. Okay, got my AmiTCP stack up and running, but when I try to load any
of the Genesis programs I get the error message "unable to open Genesis.library
3.0. So I removed Genesis and went back to my OS3.9 disk and re-installed it from there.
Same error message, any ideas?
Also I too tried Road House and like Mike had nothing but problems with it and it cost.
Genesis worked great for 3 plus months... So I really want to go back to that.
Thanks

AmiTCP and Genesis cannot work together and cannot be installed together. Genesis replaces AmiTCP and vice versa. Do not install Genesis if you are happy with AmiTCP.

Thomas, Now you are really confusing me. I though AmiTCP had to run in order for
Genesis to launch?

AFAIK Genesis is based on AmiTCP and during the install process (of Genesis, under 3.9) several folders and assigns for AmiTCP are created. I don't think this is the same thing as actually "running" AmiTCP, it's just tacking on to some of the various folders that are part of the overall AmiTCP package.
Your actual program that you run to start the Internet connection is Genesis.
Since your error message is telling you that it's "unable to open genesis.library", have you checked in LIBS: what version you have installed there?
Sorry to hear you had problems with Roadshow, too. Guess I'm not the only one who's cursed, lol. ;)
You might also check that the following lines exist somewhere in your S:User-Startup:
Assign AmiTCP: SYS:Internet/Genesis
Assign C: AmiTCP:Bin ADD
Assign AmiSSL: SYS:Internet/AmiSSL
Assign LIBS: AmiSSL:Libs Add
Path AmiSSL: Add
(I've got tons of assigns in my user-startup, but those looked like they might be relevant, lol)
Actually, re-check that genesis.library version # again. I don't run Genesis (haven't used it since a brief period in the 1990's), but I see I've got 45.4 in SYS:Internet/Genesis/libs
Your assign or your path might be screwed up, and it's not able to find this file.

Mike, thanks for all this good information. Yes, I figured out that AmiTCP doesn't actually
run but is called by Genesis. As soon as I removed the AmiTCP stuff from User-Startup
then Genesis started working again. But somewhere in the install of something it ask me
for the information about my wireless network, name and password. I haven't come across
that yet in my re-install. I do have Run "wirelessmanager prism2.device in my user startup,
do I need to run it somewhere to get that information in?
Thanks for taking the time.

Got me on that one, I've never run a wireless card in my systems. Skimming this video, around the 3:25 minute mark, looks like it might be part of the Prism2 install?
