Hi. Nice effort, any chance of making it a bit more colorful using tricks like Lionheart ? Or maybe AGA version...
-
Really do you need 2mb chip ram and 68030 for this?
-
Really do you need 2mb chip ram and 68030 for this?
They say in the description it's written in AMOS. Just like games written in Backbone, have very high system requirements to compensate for inefficiencies of the language. Just be glad someone is working on some new software, eh? ;)
-

Thanks for your comment, well yes is necesary 2Mb chip Ram a lot of GFX&Sound are there but 020 will be ok too, I say just an 1200 Stock Amiga computer are necessary to play the game but how here some members say it´s Amos and need some power up to run smooth like in the A1200 030 50mhz i made and also a Vampire benefits a Lot! in this New brand Amiga Game for 68k .
but to be honest many people have to day an 68030 or 020 i think if not allways you can play in your actually PC/MAC too.
all the best and Amiga4ever!

Another typical Amiga user who believes everything should be free. #sigh
This is why we can't have nice things. ;)

Best of luck with this game!
-
The graphics looks good enough, but what little we saw of gameplay looks really really cheap. Like a sloppy written AMOS game. Oops! :p
-
I like the idea of the game, but the character(s) dont move fluid.. the jumps look weird. Also, your website isnt accessible.

Kickstarter doesn't take the money unless the goal is met.

Actually kickstart is partially right. The only reason I also have heard of you is from some argument you had when you wanted volunteers to help you make a game/company or whatever it was. It was handled unprofessionally.
I think you should make the game anyway but definitely make changes to have the characters run/move more fluid. Make the background move like in Shadow Of The Beast or some other changes. Once you have a game you release that looks great, you'll have a better reputation as a game maker.
Good luck!
-
@amiten
You always delete all your post or videos on youtube hidding all those things, i only lost few minutes to read about your "adventures" but good luck.

I'm not trying to pick a fight here, I just want to point out how absurd that is. SOTB was written in hardware-banging assembly at the height of the Amiga's popularity. No one left here, or very few people, have the time, desire, or coding skill, to write such a game anymore. Sorry folks, that ship has sailed.
Now I don't know anything about the guy writing this other game (or his "reputation"), but he's pretty clearly stated that it's being written in AMOS. So to ask for them to "Oh, just make it like SOTB"... yeah, sure. Wishful thinking, and all that. Why don't you just say "Hey, go learn some long dead programming language for a computer hardly anyone codes for anymore, to make a game that - at best - you have the possibility of making a couple thousand bucks off of, while all the while being flamed in public forums... AAAHHH!
Anyhow, I backed it, because I'm at a point in my life when I make pretty decent money, and want to support continued Amiga software development. I pirated the sh** out of games 20-something years ago when I was a broke teenager. Now that I'm an adult I try to do the right thing, and support continued Amiga software development where I can. It's your choice what you want to do. Cheers! :)

If you want to wear the minimum pieces of flair, then that's your prerogative. Lmao. Strive to be the best..if the minimum is the best, then so be it.

A simple dual playfield infinite scroll and some bobs and sprites. Hardly rocket science. I wouldn't be surprised if Amos can handle that. Looks far more impressive than it is.

I backed it.
This is a person that not only develops software for the Amiga, he has won contests with his work which keeps the Amiga name around, and does a Youtube channel where they talk Amiga, play Amiga games, show how the graphics are done.

That is true, I really enjoyed the Amos tutorials on his channel. I had been looking for something like that for ages. I don't think 4000 is a lot to ask to develop a new game for this platform. I look forward to seeing the results.
-
One question, people have to support all projects with the name "Amiga" on it with or without quality?
I agree. It looks like a game that would have been sent to Amiga Format as a Game of the month contester. I'm sorry, but the animation looks terrible and both the gfx and game idea looks really cheap. Why do they need 4000 for this? Want I get, but need?
-

4000 also is not much. How long do you think would a professional team with coders, graphicians and musicians work for 4000 EUR? One day? Three days? We should be realistic and not compare it to big commercial projects in the golden times. I had recommended to use Hollywood or Amiblitz (Blitzbasic) for it or at least use the AGA extension of Amos. For Hollywood chipset support as plugin is announced and on RTG Hollywood already runs. But it is his decision.

When you have really experience why do you not offer him to help them?
-
I'll back it. Nice to see some effort at making a new game for the classic Amiga. I do agree it is a little choppy with the animations (jumping and character movement), but I also see it is early in development and hopefully a few more frames of animation can smooth that out some.
-
When you have really experience why do you not offer him to help them?
Those who can, do. Those who can't, complain on the forums.

Back in the day there was also bad games sold for 25 pounds:

PD: the dream of Rowan not look so bad at all, it needs a bit of improvements but i think that they would solve it

it is certainly not eye-catching and it will not overrun the markets, it is a homebrew game with mini budget. What do some people expect realistic for 4000 EUR? Examples are recent kickstarters from cinemaware, for professional game development you need professional budgets.

You are a very weird guy with your actions, speaking and writing even in your language... what is madrid+time? maybe CET?... why invite if you ban anyone with different opinion?
Im still waiting any explanation for this 4000eur goal.

let's not pollute the thread on @Amiten's new game with stuff on @Templario's. so you can continue the discussion here (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?p=800160). i've moved the off-topic posts to that new thread.
also: you're more than welcome to disagree with folks on this forum, but not welcome to be insulting to fellow members. please keep this in mind. thanks. :)

Im still waiting any explanation for this 4000eur goal.
Im not sure why he has explain anything regarding monetary goal.
My thoughts are;
In todays economy situation I can see why people look hard for ways to establish a income, even if its a first crack at a game.
Viddi with his sequel. Daniel with his efforts in Tower57, Wings etc.
All of them, this one included, ask people if they are willing to support their efforts, and hopefully it can be a foundation for something sustainable.
I do not expect you to ever agree with my post tho, since I have gotten the distinct impression that you think everything amiga related have to be free.
You are entitled to your opinion, but noone owes you any explaination why they hope for a return for their efforts.
-
Amiten:
In the youtube vid you played "Jim Power".. do you think its possible you can make the background scroll in Rowan like in Jim Power? Are you going to have music playing during gameplay? Do you have a sample of that music?
It looks like you made some changes to Rowan when he "jumps"..looks good, looks more fluid.
-
@amiten

Why does he or anyone else have to explain why they are charging what they are charging. I would like to get 4000 bucks to make a game and if people are willing to donate to that what has it got to do with you.
If you don't like kickstarters (which would be ironic) or you don't like the game, fine don't either fund it or play it.
Otherwise nobody owes you an explanation of anything. They guy is making a game, he want to get paid for it. Good on him.
Go do you own thing, make your own game, try and get paid for it.
-
Why does he or anyone else have to explain why they are charging what they are charging.
Amiga users have a habit of throwing money at everybody who claims he'll do something "for the Amiga".
Amiten, be honest. In your case, that would mean putting the following facts on the table:
- "I have started half a dozen game projects, none of them ever reached 'playable preview' status"
- "I described myself as an AMOS novice just recently"
- "I never asked for money before"
- "I need or want money this time, because (a), (b) and (c). I need the amount specified because (d) and (e)"
Kickstarter was meant for projects that couldn't be funded otherwise - not to make a quick buck without any effort and only worry about delivering product afterwards. Since Amiten's game - if it ever gets completed - will be a spare time project, there's no reason to collect funds now. Just create the game, put it in a nice box and sell it to collectors. Viddi did that - with a Backbone game - and it went so well he made a sequel and distributed it the same way.
-
Moderators of this site please take action against insults and mentors about me .
if not I 'll have to take legal action .
please and thank you .
-
People are making too much of a fuzz regarding the amount of money aske for in this and other projects.
Thats the nice thing about kickstarter, the sum each of us pledge is small, and is barely noticable, but get enough pledgers and it adds up nicely.
When someone without trackrecord (to me) ask for support, I usually go for lower tier pledges and basically go on blind faith. Its a gamble, and yes, the amiga factor is a motivator. But its peanuts for each and everyone of us.
The possible gains are new developers for the Amiga.
I really like the Reshoot video too. Very much the type of game I loved back in the days.
If amiten delivers with this game, and end up producing more games, its been a worthwhile gamble, giving me hours of enjoyment. If not, it didnt cost me more than I would spend on a cinematrip that merely provides a few hours.
@Amiten; Dont get worked up about people being negative. Do like Amigakit/Trevor, stay positive and ignore the negativity. Ofcourse accept constructive critisism, but as long as Ive read Amigaforums, every effort have had x amount of people going out of their way to belittle peoples efforts. Just prove them wrong by focus on development :)
-
@Niding such comments like your make me ringing up and carry on . thanks!!!

This kickstarter project already collected nearly 1200 Euros, unbelievable.
SMDH. You've obviously never used Kickstarter or you'd understand that it's actually collected $0, at this point. It's pledges, nothing more. There's nothing to stop a backer from changing their pledge, or even cancelling their payment method, prior to the completion of the Kickstarter (when the money is actually collected - if the goal is met).
I wish people wouldn't bloviate about things they don't know anything about, lol. ;)

Kind of funny how all the people commenting negatively on this thread are only serving to keep it at the top of the forums. Hate this project so much? Stop commenting on it so it will drop off the radar and no one else will see it. You're basically giving him "free advertising" at this point. :D

AMOS doesn't require as much resources as Backbone... Can't be compared these two.
AMOS became famous and widely used by newbes and beginners way back because of it's modular system and well prepared extensions like AmCaf, AMAL etc. So practically everyone can make a small program with opening a screen, loading a gfx, 2 sprites and a protracker module with some sound samples and that's it, a game is ready in the moment when you add collision detection and start the mod to play... (Before anyone asks me to provide something like that - I'm not interested, and also can tell the reason why. I can't jump over the high quality standard which have been set in 1989 with SOTB, and 1992 with Superfrog. so from that point I'm realistic and know where are my limits.)
Moreover:

This was written in 1996. ;)
Now I'm waiting for AmiVania (or what it was) to be released first.
Not offending anyone, just stating facts.

Yes, I understand, but I want send hurries to Amiten in spanish because in english is any difficult for me, but I not write bad things in spanish, only hurries.
Also well, this is an english forum but for two spanish post, so discussions, it is incredible, in a MorphOS forum there are threads in german and nobody are taken it personally.
I totally sympathise with you here. I see nothing wrong with a bit of Spanish chit-chat. If the Spaniards do take over all Amiga forums then it will only be because they're the only Amiga supporters left, it wouldn't be for any other reason. Besides, is there a rule stating all posts must be in English? I think you've been treated unfairly here. Perhaps you should look for a friendlier forum!

@paul1981
The problem is when this chit-chat in spanish is used to swear or a bit.

I'll put money in just to help out the community some more. How else do you think the Amiga will keep alive? If people cant take time to develop software and get paid something for that time, we die. Its as simple as that.

Good luck with the project.
Only one person in this world who could program AMOS Professional so damn good where scrolling backgrounds and 64 colors weren't an issue. No hiccups. Course on an 68030/50mhz. Sadly, him and I stopped speaking to one another. Been a few years now...
Doubt I will ever see something that good ever again in another AMOS game. Even his simple game Nutsy played damn good. I may have to dig out the disk sometime and see if it still works.
Again, good luck.

Nice! Just played v0.1 of the demo, since I saw it on Aminet and had a few minutes to spare. Got killed about 20 times in five minutes, I am definitely going to need more practice at this, LOL.
