Hi:
I played rocket ranger before, on a commodore 64.
I really loved the game, but was impossible for me to win.
The arcade bits especially, were too hard for me.
Now i would like to play the amiga version.
Is it possible to beat rocket ranger on amiga ?
too hard to win ?

I assure it's possible to win as i did it many times.
There are also YouTube vids of people winning:

What I do is go around practicing the mini games first. Don't try to win the game just get good at the mini games.

Its not unbeatable. I did it a few times back when I was a kid.

FYI there's about 20 copies of it listed on ebay right now, starting at the princely sum of $7 USD. ;)

You can get rocket ranger at gog for $6. http://www.gog.com/game/rocket_ranger_emulated_amiga_edition As for completing the game, here's a couple of tips: Some of the enemy bases are always in the same location or very near it. You can make an educated guess to find the next place to land. Sometimes guessing is very effective when you don't have all the intelligence that you need. It can be a process of elimination. You should also economize on your trips abroad to efficiently move instead of going back and forth and wasting fuel. I used to make a map and do a bit of planning. Goodness, I loved that game back in the day. Music, graphics and gameplay were so awesome. I didn't even mind that stupid codewheel. Somehow it added to the complexity in an interesting way. You had to be very exacting and precise. There's an article on pcgamer "saturday crapshoot" about rocket ranger: http://www.pcgamer.com/saturday-crapshoot-rocket-ranger/

I just read the article. Very nice.
I was happy to learn that it only takes about 30 minutes to beat the game.
It mean i don't have to spend many hours playing.

I learned something I didn't know. The DOS VGA version has an extra minigame. Quoting mobygames: "According to programmer Peter Oliphant, the DOS VGA version has an extra game which is not present in the Amiga lead version. This came about because there was no design document and so he just had to work from the things the programmer of the Amiga version had already finished. At some point, he got ahead and had to wait until more of the Amiga version materialized - and so he developed an extra mini game in that spare time. "
