I have two Pegasos II systems and on one of them it seems that the G4 CPU card has problems. I've isolated the problem to the G4 CPU card as I've swapped components between both Pegasos II boards.
The problem seems to have happened when the CPU fan was noisy, so I removed the CPU card, cleaned the fan and put it back. The fan didn't work. Then I checked and one of the the power wires was old and disconnected from inside the fan. I fixed that and it was spinning OK again. However, the Pegasos II always displays a blank screen. I swapped the CPU card from my other Pegasos II and it worked fine.
I think I might have fried my card? I am pretty handy with electronics, so if it is something I can check (capacitor changing, etc), please let me know if any of you have any tips.
I'm yet to connect to it via serial.

Yes the card is fried. Your best bet is to contact BBRV and see if they can help you out.
If the CPU melted its gone.
I lost 2 CPUs on my peg 2 in the past. Do yourself a huge favor an replace the heat sink and fan on your working CPU. Make sure to use metal legs that connect the fan to the CPU board. The plastic ones will melt and you will lose your other CPU for sure.
The default fan and sink that came on the CPU cards all fail. My problem went away when BBRV sent me a CPU with a metal connection.this goes back a few years so I don't know if they can help, but they are good people so I would start there.
Good luck

Thanks, matt3k. Good advice. I spoke to Bill and I'm now in touch with Thomas at bPlan to see what can be done.

You could always try baking the card in the oven? I have done this with plenty of my gfx cards and if done properly might save you some cash on getting it repaired.

tha g4 NEEDS to be replaced ! baking the card will do nothing than kill it more than it is yet... G4 cpu fry very very fast when it are not properly cooled !

True. FWIW I'm sending over to Thomas at bPlan. Hopefully I'll have my AmigaOS 4.1 FE machine back up and running soon :)
