I have been seeing lots of stuff on eBay here in the usa that states its from Software Hut. But they have been gone for years. Well guess what.
There went out years ago. Somehow I started thinking some new is going on and well check it out
I was correct
This is very good news!! this added some weight to what I have seen over the last year momentum is growing all over :)

Yeah. I've see him selling on eBay for a couple weeks now.

Pretty good trick being able to stash the entire inventory of a company in a mini van.
-
I just received my first item from his eBay store a couple days ago, and have one more on the way! :)

Whadja get?
I would really like to get this but it will prolly go for mad money! :(

Yes, I noticed softhutjoe started selling during AmiWest.
He seems to have timed it just right, a real pent up demand.
I bid on a couple of items and saw the price zoom to hundreds... (ouch)
I guess Joe found stuff in the attic?

Go for it, bid more, more, more (evil laughter)

YES, as a seller, I love the fact that I can find a market for almost anything on eBay.
Bid well, bid often. (followed by a similar sinister chuckle).

Good to see Joe back again. There goes more of my money......

Spent thousands there and may do it again, Amigakit West is on!
-
I'm sure this is not a revival for Software Hut. It is Joe getting rid of his inventory that never sold. I don't see anything listed that would lead me to believe otherwise. It is still a great chance for us to pick up some of the odds and ends that aren't produced anymore.
-
He may decide to pick it up again and go with it. With all the new vendors he could make this a good thing. I encourage him to do so!
-
Once the back inventory is gone he can't get anything except what you can already get from Amigakit. I guess he can underprice Amigakit on all the things they sell but where does that leave us? Amigakit out of business and Joe making no money because of low prices and no market. Why do you think Individual only makes one or two small runs of products? Because there is no market for more. You don't see any of the in-demand items being listed that SH used to sell. They're gone. All that is being sold is old stock that never sold because there was no demand. I'm the biggest Amiga fan there is but I won't fool myself into thinking this is more than it is.
-
There are no Amiga dealers in the US. None (unless you count Doomy, from that absurd Facebook post that popped up recently). Sure, AmigaKit and others ship here, but shipping $ is high and sometimes takes a long time. So there might be a market for him, if he's interested in doing more than just selling off remainders of old inventory. ;)

Reading is a great skill. I see Oldsmobile_Mike can read. I can too sorry you can't but I won't make more of it than that

WTF? How does selling some remaining inventory on eBay = Software Hut is back?
-
What post??
This showed up a couple weeks ago on a Facebook post. I screenshot'ed it on my phone. See Doomy's craigslist message. I guess this means he isn't in jail. ;)

hahaha, he is a commodore amiga dealer AND repair center!

And the one and only remaining...

Am I right in thinking that it is not the Original Softhut but an enthusiast bringing forward it's legacy by selling Softhut items?

No, it's the original owner. He turned over what was left of his inventory to someone else a year or two ago, but after they didn't have time to sell it he got it back (AFAIK, they're welcome to chime in here if they'd like), and is now selling through his ebay store.

has the older history (http://softhut.us/?paged=2)
the story is also here with dates that show considerable customer interest (http://softhut.us/?page_id=26)

I'm watching that too. You can't have it. ;)
Seriously. It is my impression that it is only the AdRam 560D (and not the AdRam 540 the 560D plugs into.) He had one a couple weeks ago also that went for $72USD. I was a bit surprised because I didn't think the AdRam 540 was that prevalent. Perhaps I am mistaken on one of those.
Of course, I am constantly surprised for the prices of these auctions, even when I win them...
Best of luck.

The pictures seem to show a box with both the 540 & 560D. The auction title and description state just 560D. But then the "about this auction" provides a link to both boards. It is more than a bit confusing, maybe ask the seller?
-
As someone else posted he (SoftHut) is just selling what is left of inventory. This is all spelled out on the website they setup. If I could just remember what that was. I think softhut.us

Like a few before you. Reading is not at the top of your list or you are just saying along with some others they have read it. Let me copy and past what the site does say. This is in the 2nd paragraph. It's not hidden or some secret only I know about.
And there are some big plans for the future beyond just this inventory, so stay tuned.
Just selling what is left of inventory and this is spelled out. I suggest you re-read what the web site says.
I see that as a good thing. Even this has water thrown on it by a number of people on this site. It's seems like any good news is met with a number of people dumping bad vibes all over it. I have to wonder why some people are even on this site.

Yay, another person that has some memory retention!

be great to have one Amiga shop open again on this side of the pond even though I would prefer to have it a wee bit north:)

I don't consider being realistic as dumping bad vibes. If they didn't have enough business to keep the old store going how is an eBay store going to improve anything?
Why did Mech set up his own site store?
"To Avoid The Insane Ebay Fees".
Now, that's what I call memory retention.

Probably should, OTOH, if I manage to win (not likely), and end up with an extra 540, I wouldn't exactly complain. :)
FWIW, As I recall, the red-dot on the box indicated what was contained in it. Which leads me to believe its only the 560D. But I wouldn't place bets on my recollection.

Yea, I got to looking at that real close earlier today and yes, I do believe that is the 560D only. Bummer! I really need some fast ram for my A500! :hammer:

You can probably score this for a lot cheaper than that board on ebay, and it's likely to be faster, as well:
http://www.kipper2k.com/a500fastmem.html
(get the 4MB board so you don't have to disable the 2MB in your A590. Not 100% sure but don't you take a performance hit with that card if you have no fast mem on the controller?)

The big reason I want more than the 512K trap door mem (which it already has) is that I did the 2meg mod to the MB and I run the A500 frequently w/o the A590 which leaves me with no fast mem. I play a lot of games off floppies on the A500 for quick miggy satisfaction! :) The A590 is a pain to get all connected as I have no place to leave the A500 all hooked up (have to put it away each time I use it). That Kipper board looks like the ticket but then, you know me, I'll have to go all hog wild with a CF adapter and Kipper CPU relocation thingy and all that jazz! Rather just get a 4MB trap door expansion. :laugh1: I was all giddy when I saw the mem expansion from Softhut and was willing to do what ever it took to snipe that from any other bidders.:roflmao: Then realized what it was.

Hummm... have you done the power mod (http://members.iinet.net.au/~davem2/overclock/a500hd.html) to have the A590 draw directly from the A500? That's what I did with my GVP and it works great. Would save you from having to run one extra wire, anyway. ;)
You kids and your floppies!
Yes, the fun moment of waiting until there's 15 seconds left on an auction then throwing in a bid... Sometimes ebay brings out the worst in us, I think. ;)
Might have to start shopping around for another Spectrum card, if I was going to take you up on that swap. But I'm still holding out on those 97 resistors! Somewhere, somebody must have a card that they'll sell, LOL. ;)

Never did the A590 power mod... seems the more I mod & install add-on's the more my $hit blows up! :nervous: Both my A1200's are horked now - so no AGA love till I get another A1200 MB! Old games no longer work on the A2K with Mr. Fusion installed! I have to hook up my A500 to play a quicky game. Oh woe is me... (sad bunch we are - complain when we can't drive our Ferrari's). :roflmao:
LOL.... love the floppy quick game! :laugh1:
Mr. Fusion is here safe and sound waiting for you! Oooops's, I think I just heard him say "Bring me home Mikey!".... Actually I could use the $$ for another A1200 and I "GOTTA" have that GVP Spectrum! Besides, I have a box of about $1K in A1200 miggy add-on's wasting away ATM that need to be put to use!:)

Ya know, I'm not real sure but, I think the only thing the guy got for his money was a 2meg stick of ram!

Yeah that is just for the 560D with 2 megs of ram on it. Further it is only useful if you already have an AdRam540.
I have a AdRam540 (got it in a bit box of random amiga stuff (I don't have the 560D)). This is a very odd memory expansion.
You can have up to 2 megs of (chip+slow ram) that is half a meg of chip + 1.5 megs of slow ram (if you have a 8372a) or almost two megs of slow ram without a fat agnus. Additionally on the 540 you can add 2 meg of fast ram that is the speed of slow ram and does not autoconfigure (you need a program to mount this memory).
The A560D would give you 2 more megs of non-autoconfigurable memory that appears to be fast ram but the speed of slow ram.
With my Adram540 I get 1.5 meg of slow ram, 0.5 megs chip (plus 0.5 of motherboard chip) and 2megs of "slow" fast ram that requires a startup-sequence program.
I use it with an A570 as memory where memory expansions are rare.
My biggest problem with this ram is the speed, you don't get the fast ram boost from it like edge connector ram. additionally I don't like that some of the memory does not autoconfigure.
I understand why people would have wanted one back in the day up to 4 meg of memory (or 6 megs with the 560D) all in your trapdoor expansion. Additionally other expansion were very expensive back in the day.

Didn't Softhut used to sell Amiga 4000T's. I wonder if they still have any of these in stock.

You're joking, right? :p
-
More like wishful thinking ;)
-
Actually I know they atleast sold one shortly before they more or less vanished.
But it's rather doubtfull that such a prices item hadn't found it's way onto ebay someway in the last years.
-
Yes they had them for a long time. I have a new empty tower that came from them. I think they may have had all the parts and assembled the computer when you put in your custom order. If you have noticed they have sold at least one motherboard and several other components advertised as new in their recent EBay sales. I think it got hard for them to sell a $2000 plus computer that was outdated in the 2000 years when you could get a used one on EBay for $600 to $800 at the time.

My Tek 2060 I got from you died around 7 years ago. Hoping for a replacement soon, maybe an FPGA that's not $500. For sure an Indivision ECS, maybe some new drives and maybe a Mediator for my 4000T. I bought it from a guy that either worked for you or lived close to you.

Wow, good to see you back Joe. Still using my mediator and csppc I bought from you years ago. Though its in an A4000T now and not the 3000 any longer.
What made you decide to come back in to things?

Hi Acill -
Good to see you as well !
Well, we came across a slew of new inventory, and I decided to clean out the warehouse. A lot of NEW items that haven't seen the light of day in years...slowly but surely becoming available to the community.

Any front doors for a Quickpack A4000T?? Like everyone else, the latch on mine doesnt work anymore due to the peg breaking off.

um,gvp didnt make the warpengine ;) it was macrosystem.. a fine board..better than the gvp stuff in most cases.
I think the last thing joe was selling was the GVP 4060DT ... i had bought one long ago. With a hacked rom to work with sfs it was a quick board.

Just to 2nd this ;-) .... In fact any type of A2000 accelerator... 020, 030 etc... just rescued one A2000 abyss :-). Or anything else to make the old girl go a bit more.
PS: Just to add we used to buy a few items from Softhut... their service to us (brother and I) in Australia was exemplary. Excellent to see Joe back.

Hi Chris!
Aye, it indeed has been a long time :(. Spent a few years in another city with studies.
Back into the swing of things now, especially with the Amigas ;). Resurrected the A4000 and managed to score a working A2000 (albeit... The German model :P).
Brother is well, and also getting the Amiga twitch again and he's resurrected his old A1200 ;). He says hi. :)
