Petro sells his collection of material
Petro Tyschtschenko, former president of Amiga International, said on Facebook in early July he was retiring. His statement said that at the age of almost 73 years, it was time for him to say goodbye. He took the opportunity to announce that his collection of material Commodore / Amiga will be sold. This presents some rarities collected for the years 1982 to 2001: the Walker prototype (1996), PET 2001 (1977), SX64 (1984), A1000 (1985), CD32 (1993) A1200 Magic Pack (1992) A500 (1987), C64 (1982), C116 (1984), C128 (1985) and a VC-20 (1981). Contact: petrot@power-service-gmbh.com.
If he's really selling the walker prototype we should contact him and pool our monies to secure it. It should be preserved in a museum.

That's absolutely correct!
Not staying on the shelves of someone's basement collecting dust! ;-)

He wants 25.000 euro for the Walker. Based on the price he saw for an Apple I on E-bay. Like the Walker was ever as historic as an Apple I ...
-
Funny, this is the first thing I think of when somebody says "Walker". ;)

25,000 EUR... sounds like when somebody really doesn't want to sell an item, but they put it out there anyway, figure it would pay for a year of his grandkids college, or six months in a nursing home, if some sucker actually does buy it. Heh. Oh wait, he's in Germany, his grandkids get to go to college for free, lucky #)$%&@. :(
Alternate theory: his nagging wife told him "you better get that junk out of here!" and then when it doesn't sell, he can say "well honey, I tried!" *wink wink nudge nudge*. ;)

I thought there already was someone interested and willing to buy his complete collection for something like 40.000 euro!!!

really? If true then some crazy people seem to have too much money
I would not buy it even if I had the money
-
There was this guy who took a second morgage to buy it. But since he didn't finalize the purchase before he took the morgage he got pissed when Petro said he wanted more. That thread on Facebook is epic :D

This m/c was sold for $40k in non-working condition initially, then new owner had it repaired. Then he had it signed by Wozniak. This suddenly makes it worth $670k? I don't think so. Oh well... This middle eastern chap has money to burn, good luck to him.

He might get it.

Come on man, you can't post a comment like that and not provide a link! :(
Edit: although I suspect it'll probably be in German. :p

Thanks! Another Amiga forum to troll! ...I mean enjoy! :D

I was also referring to that thread and in another thread that same guy said the deal was still on after all... but I can't seem to find that one anymore in the FB Amiga Group.
-
Is he calculating those prices on a defective old/new stock Commoddore calculator, itself worth um... 15,000...

That's a bit much! I got less than 1/10 of that for mine!

You had a walker? No way!!!
-
Ill take the Walker! Where to send payment?
-
Wouldn't it be better to just pretend the Walker never came into existence and forget the whole 'preserve it in a museum for future generations bit'

Yes, museum dust is way better than basement dust.
-
I could take it and put it through the furnace they use for sanitizing HDDs, should melt into some gold possibly...

Most items in museums are stored in the "basement" anyway because they do not have space to display everything.

Which is why the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum built the Udvar-Hazy Center (https://airandspace.si.edu/visit/udvar-hazy-center/), conveniently 15 minutes from my house. Space Shuttle Discovery, SR-71 Blackbird, Concord, Enola Gay, and tons of Apollo-era space stuff, as well as the largest IMAX movie screen on the east coast. Anybody from this forum ever visits the DC area, I'd love to show them around. ;)
Sorry, big space geek as well as Amiga geek, I'll shut up now. :D

NASA was known to use Amigas heavily.

Well, they didn't really have much choice, there isn't a basement big enough to hold that lot:)
But I am sure they still have a lot of stuff stored out of sight.
