I'd played with WinUAE/Amiga Forever in the past and never got it to run as fast as a real mig - even an 020. But last night I discovered the JIT settings etc. WOW! Now I can see why you guys use it - its cool to have Workbench in 1024 x 768 resolution and with a jpeg backdrop that doesn't use up all my CHIP ram. The few assembly progs I've written on my Amiga run at lightning speed on this 1.8Ghz laptop. And thats compared to my 060 Blizzard.
In short I always thought WinUAE was a crock but I'm happy to find out I was wrong. (only weird thing is it makes beepy high pitched noises on this laptop when doing gfx operations?).
Big shout to the guys who wrote WinUAE. RESPEC! :-D

Welcome to the club :-)

WinUAE is nice but I have a few reservations. Biggest is having to have Windows in the background eating resources. Second is the speed of graphics updates on P96 modes - still horribly slow. Third is that even UAE is slow compared to the Amigalike environment I'm using now. ;)

It's a small price to pay! On a high-spec PC, it's hardly an issue anyway.

I guess it must depend on your PC's spec. P96 modes are lightning fast for me.

SysSpeed thinks I have a 1Ghz 68040! :-)
