Post by: goldfish on August 21, 2015, 04:39:39 PM
Hi

 When will Amiga.com website die news page not working not that they have any news. Shop links to blackberry with no products surely it cant carry on like this. Wish all the hackers would bring it down in shame like it deserves.

It is rather embarrassing. Not only does it look ancient, it doesn't even function as a website. It's more of a web based sneeze, all over the place.

Wow.  I have no idea who you are.  I see you've made 76 posts since Jan. 2010.  Maybe if folks like you contributed more,  this website wouldn't be in such sad shape.  Since clearly you are a towering juggernaut of intellectual activity, why not join us on some of our technical discussions, or help out new users... anything besides just complain?  :angryfire:

Edit: Are you Franko?  :lol: :lol:

@Oldsmobile_Mike

i think he was referring to amiga.com, not amiga.org. ;)

@goldfish

dunno. i'm sure it will be updated when bill mcewen can think of a new scam, i mean, business venture, to tie to the amiga name. sigh.

I'm not complaining I was just asking why Amiga.com has been aloud to mention Amiga on its site when all they do is take money for licenses.

Yes I was on about Amiga.com NOT Amiga.org Amiga.org has always been a good site with great content and advise

The last time http://www.amiga.com looked professional was July 2001 as I remember the spinning boing ball animating in the top left corner looked cool:

https://web.archive.org/web/20010712210152/http://www.amiga.com/

They went through a phase of using having an ugly video camera design as if they were a video editing company! Now their Blackberry product page has no products! What a farce! They need to sell the website to A-EON and leave the market! They seem to be a scam company wanting to destroy the memory of the Amiga. Their Christmas Card maker was the only thing they ever did of semi-worth and that really is the joke of it all.

Sadly, this will probably not end until Bill is in his grave.
I generally wish no one ill, but...

What has Bill McEwan to gain by perpetuating this nonsense? He lost his financial backer Pentti Kouri so how has this train wreck continued for so long? It really beggars belief!

@BozzerBigD

it occasionally brings in money. his latest scam -- with 'amiga games, inc.' and 'WRIT media group' -- brought him thousands. and every now and again some folks approach him to purchase the marks outright. one of these days i'm sure he'll sell. we can only hope to someone worthy.

Man, homepages used to look a lot better when they had to focus on content and easy to understand design with minimal graphics. Today most homepages just sucks.

Don't know if it's that loud but more of a silent death. ;-)

This page gives nice PHP warnings: http://amiga.com/news/

There were about to release some oldschool PC games to Blackberry/mobile too. The author of Ax86 was supposed to licence his ARM x86 emulation CPU core.

Unsurprisingly, nothing came out of it either.

I'd suggest suggest A-eon, but the convoluted agreement between Hyperion and Amiga Inc. limits the utility in owning Amiga Inc's property rights for Trevor.

Tell me again why we arent all writing (spamming) Bill with how he's continuously oildrilling our belolved one for resources, trying to get a few, lousy bucks out of an old name...

Also, why arent we kickstarting buying amiga.com back? Then kickstarting a hit on Bill? Seriously, i would chip in quite a lot...:-)

Uh, maybe because its not a good idea?
Bill sets the price for his asset.
And I doubt that even though the real world value is low, that his price would be anything but ridiculously high.

And do you want to enrich this guy?

Further, spamming is of limited utility.
Its more likely to just harden his resolve rather than make him give up.

Good question.
I cannot find much info on Bill on the web, outside of his days with Gateway and the early actions of his two Amiga Inc. entities.
No Facebook, Twitter, or other social media listing, and no web page outside of Amiga Inc.

You can find much more on the average Joe via a Goggle search than you can on Bill.
Its weird.

Amiga Inc. reminds me of Merlancia Industries.

So, anyone care to explain to me why it wouldn't have been better to have bPlan/Genesi in control of the Amiga name?

Yes, but I'd be real careful about wanting to claim him as "ours".

This is just the last page, but basically after everyone lost their money on the stock, they are now trying to get those same people to also pay for development of the product MEANT to be paid for by the income generated BY the company.

Note prior page posts referring to FBI and Federal indictments of a key individual formerly involved in this company...
