I would just like to remind everyone of the Kickstarter project for a new A1200 case (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/a1200housing/new-a1200-housings-pressed-from-new-molds) which is a replacement for the original one, but includes also mounting holes and pre-cut lines on the inner side for varoius expansions.
The case is not only suitable for the original A1200 mainboard, but also for Individual Computer's "Amiga Reloaded", the Raspberry Pi (which can then utilize the A1200 keyboard) and the FPGA board MiST.
Since the original announcement, there have been lots of updates, and there is also a 20 Euro pledge option for those who are not able or in need to buy a new case.
More than half of the needed amount has been collected, but there are only four days left. Given all the work that has been invested by Philippe into this project, it would be a real pity if it would fail due to lack of funding.
Not to mention that if the Amiga community is too small already now for funding this, there won't be enough users for it in future either.
(PS: People not owning a credit card for pledging at Kickstarter might consider a "virtual prepaid credit card".)

There is not much demand for an A1200 case at the moment. Could you start again with a generic case design?
-
I have pledged my support to help get the project off the ground.
My reward will be a new translucent case. I havent yet decided if it will house an a1200 reloaded board when they arrive or a raspberry pi. Possibly i will switch my existing 1200 into the new case an house the pi in the other one!
It would be so cool if we could get the keyboard stretch goal happening too.

Dear ElPolloDiabl,
Could you please be more specific regarding "Generic case design" ?
The reason why we went for the A1200 case, aside from our feelings, is that it is the best choice as nowadays everyone would like to have an Amiga 1200.
The other reason is that Individual Computers is making a new Amiga 1200 mobo.
Fully design a new case, from scratch, is something much more difficult than picking up something existing and enhancing it. It needs more ressources in R&D and a huge financial investment at first to get the work done before any KS campaign could start. Without being even sure that there is a demand for it.
Lauching our KS campaign on summer vacation period and only for 30 days, helped us a lot to analyse the audience for such project ;)
I'd like to personally thank Senex, on behalf of our team, for updating the infos of our final campaign days ;)
For all of you guys willing to follow us, please send your email address to our contact list:

You can also specify your interest.
Then we'll inform you on our upcoming progress ;)
Cheers,
Phil

My first Kickstarter pledge! Did the complete housing set. Plan on buying the new motherboard to go with it as well when released. Here's hoping it reaches its goal.

I think the A1200 reloaded and MiST projects will also benefit from the existence of the case. It'll go both ways and make them stand even further from the software emulation and really take us... 20 years back !

Just upped my pledge from two complete cases to three. The falling exchange rates between USD & EUR makes this really, really cheap for me. Doggonit, I don't even own an A1200 but this project needs to happen!
(I guess I will just have to save my cases for Pi's or the Amiga Reloaded, haha) :)

Thanks Mike !
Well, if this goes through and the goal does get reached within the next couple of days I will sell you a 1200 motherboard for a reasonable price (well below Ebay prices) ;)
That does mean I would be short on motherboards myself since I will have to fill both of the custom cases I pledged for but would love to see you get a running 1200

I don't have an A1200 either but am considering backing this even though I have a mint Amiga Technologies case and wasn't contemplating building/owning another A1200. The anouncement of Amga Reloaded makes it even harder to say no.
