Title: Support for Commodoer 8088XT board
Post by: utri007 on August 01, 2015, 08:48:37 PM
For a long time I spend some time with tinkering with 8088XT bridgeboard and I got it working somewhat reliable. :) I have preinstalled DriveC file wich has DOS and janus tools installed.

First I thought that I set up hard drive partition for it with help of this : http://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/BBGuide

I got it working but... I don't have original 5.25" drive and I can't fiqure out how to install OS to it without it. So any ideas?

I also considered this : http://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/CDJanusTools

It would allow access Bridgeboard partition / files though CrossDos BUT needed PCDisk91b.lha is not availlable from aminet.net :(

Any other way to do that? Could I use Fat95 and mount partition from both Computers?

Bridgeboard has updated bios, so my original idea was use it as NIC. I have 3com 8bit nic wich should work. There is two possible solitions on aminet, wich one to use?

Can't you use the 3 1/2 drive with the pc floppies instead?
Check me on this!! Into connector at the back of the bridgeboard?

If I remember...(long time ago) this is what I used.

Seems possbile, but it woun't be drive a:\ problem is that I don't have working external  3.5" drive to test. Also I could use normal 1.44 3.5" drive with internal connector, but I don't have one either.

I'll start looking for my old manual...hope I can find it. (in boxes in attic)

Sorry, it turns out I gave the bridgeboard stuff away.
So, I just have to trust my memory (ya right)

I have never used that board but:
http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/a2088xt, has manual and install disks.

Problem is not manual or install disks. None of these thing is possible with standard janus software.

By the way AREAD and AWRITE are bog slow. This http://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/bbtools1_1 should have better tools, but when I try them theys says that it is not a jdisk. Is it so that they could used only with JLINK made disks?

New versions of WINUAE now emulate bridgeboards. I was able to setup my Janus hardfile there first and then send it over to my Amiga via serial.  No disk drive needed! I'm currently looking into whether I can use a 3.5 HD disk drive with it operating in 720k mode...Just don't have the cables to test...I know 3.5 720K drives work ok.
