Hi Guy's
I have Amiga 1200 3.1 Rom's 32 meg FastRam Apollo Turbo MkII 030/40
I have an old PCMCIA internet card but thinking of getting a WFI PCMCIA card.
What is the best reliable card to get?
TIA,
Mike.

I have Orinoco Silver and Gold cards. Both does WPA and works nicely.
There is also plenty of them on ebay

OK thank you for that, any type of software do you use?
I have Genesis from AWeb.

Then you already know that Geneisis' DHCP client is broken. You need to configure IP addres manually.
Here device driver :
http://aminet.net/package/driver/net/prism2v2
Configure it to work with Genesis is prety easy.

AWeb is just a browser, Genesis didn't come with it :) But anyway, you can use any existing TCP/IP stack like Genesis, but you just need a different driver for the card.

No it isn't broken, it just doesn't have any DHCP support. Hmm.. or did you mean some other 3rd party solution for it? Well, that might be broken :)

It has dhcp support wich is broken. Check it from settings yourself, there is enable dhcp.
Or do tuo mean AmiTCP? Geneisis surely has DHCP support. I don't know about original AmiTCP.

I could never get DHCP to work with any Amiga stack, including Genesis or Miami Dlx. Just assign a static IP address outside of the normal DHCP range assigned by your router or DHCP server, and fuggedaboutit. ;)
Maybe DHCP works with Roadshow? Wouldn't know, I don't have time to fudge around with something that doesn't have a GUI. :(

Orinoco Gold is fine, but it can only do WPA/TKIP.
There are also cards that can do WPA2/AES, but they need firmware flashing.
If you are interested in WPA2/AES cards I have some for sale.

TenLeftFingers - a friend of mine has also made a great tutorial on how to connect and configure WPA2/AES PCMCIA WIFI card with A1200.

Genesis only works with static IP. Miami and MiamiDX work great with DHCP.
I've been using RoadShow for some time and I can consider it as the best TCP/IP stack there is right now.

It works beautifully in roadshow ;)

Hmmm.. I can't see anything about DHCP in my version of Genesis (1.0.4). Where should I see it?
In the Interface settings you can select Static or Dynamic for the addresses, but IIRC the dynamic one only uses RARP or BOOTP protocols, but not the newer DHCP protocol.

You are right :) Sorry some how I was prety sure that there is a DHCP support for Genesis

Genesis doesn't support DHCP. It's more like a GUI for AmiTCP.
Stacks that support DHCP:
- Miami
- MiamiDX
- RoadShow
