Cherry-Darling (http://www.cherry-darling.net) is pleased to announce that our new game Wings Battlefield (http://www.cherry-darling.net/wings-battlefield/index.html) is finally available for purchase from the following resellers:
- Alinea Computer (http://www.alinea-computer.de)
- Amedia Computer France (http://www.amedia-computer.com)
- AMIGAstore.eu (http://amigastore.eu)
- GoldenCode (http://www.goldencode.eu/index.php?Theme=2&Language=0) (= soon also directly from us, but for now our friends from above shall have fun ;) )
Because we only have few test machines we strongly suggest to try before you buy (http://www.cherry-darling.net/wings-battlefield/index.html#downloads)! Quite some things were improved since the first demo version, so make sure to get the latest one!

Wings Battlefield
The ultimate head-to-head 3D air combat game for your next-gen Amigas!
Fly through the canyons and hills and take out your opponents before being taken out by them.
- 1 to 4 players battle
- split screen or LAN*
- human or CPU opponents
- adjustable CPU intelligence
- player profiles
- adapts to all screen-modes / window sizes
- Tate mode (pivot monitor support)
- best played with your digital joysticks
- procedural level editor
- three different landscape styles
- online high scores
- optional full scene anti-aliasing (Warp3D and Compositing versions only)
- lots of graphics options to get the perfect balance between performance / quality
- localized to English, German, French, Hungarian, Greek, Spanish and Swedish
- automatic updates (actually the first update that adds another gfx option just arrived ;) )
* LAN! Not WAN! If playing LAN sessions each player is required to have his own CD licence key! The latter does not apply to the kind people who significantly donated or helped us in other ways :) As being mentioned in those interviews: we don't forget that!

The professionally produced CD contains:
- AmigaOS4 Warp3D version
- AmigaOS4 Compositing version
- MorphOS version
- AROS x86 version
- and a, er, Windows version
- plus some goodies and the manual
- your personal licence key printed on the CD
- all wrapped up in a nice DVD box that'll look just great next to your Ace Of Hearts box ;)
The Compositing Version
No Warp3D available for your setup yet? No problem!
Wings Battlefield is our first game that uses our new Cherry Terrain Composite Engine.
(http://www.goldencode.de/gfx/cherry_terrain.png)
This engine implements some hacks to deliver hardware accelerated 3D even if there isn't a 3D driver. So you can finally enjoy real 3D almost without compromises even with your RadeonHD 4xxx, 5xxx and 6xxx!
Concretely it features:
- GPU accelerated depth tests
- GPU accelerated occlusion
- GPU accelerated fogging
- FSAA
- and of course GPU accelerated drawing / filtering
The game does NOT support or feature:
- a Warnock algorithm or whatever ;)
- Classic or emulated Amigas. In theory it may probably work on something like an A4000, PPC, Mediator, Radeon 9200 setup - but it certainly won't be much fun. However, we cannot test, therefore: not supported officially, sorry.

@Mod
I didn't realize that I could edit the news-item itself... Please delete this post, I embedded the missing part above. Thanks!

@Daytona675x
wonderful to see this released -- i've been looking forward to this since i read epsilon's review some weeks ago. however, i do have a question: if we have multiple amigas (i have a peg2 and a X5K, for example), do we need multiple licenses if we want to play a LAN game between them? in other words, are the keys per owner or per machine?

@eliyahu
Thanks :) I hope you like the final version.
The CD key is per machine. It's designed for LAN party scenarios etc. And for the WAN case, which I'll most likely add sooner or later.
So in your case your out of luck, you'll need multiple licences indeed. Unless you're a "Golden Donator", of course ;)

@Daytona675X,
Congratulations on this game release - it is a lot of fun!
My physical copy of Wings Battlefield is now ordered! Look forward to getting it soon :-)
Catcha,
Epsilon

@Epsilon
Thanks, glad you like it :) As far as I remember you qualify for the "Golden Donator" mode, better check your mail :)

What did you use to write this, is there a game engine or middle ware for Amiga OS 4?
-
This game was demoed at our user group's last event. Much positive feedback was received. Well done though on producing and releasing a game tailored towards the Amiga system.
Regards,
George

They made their own game engine.

Thanks! But that's only the Demo version , right? I mean the full game..

@klx300r
Thanks :)
We didn't recruit AmigaKit for reselling, that's why they don't have it on stock.
@3583Bytes
Like Rob said: it uses our own game framework. It's mostly C++ with some abstraction layers for graphics, sound and input to support a variety of target systems. For things such as the UI etc. we wrote an XML based scripting system that works somewhat like an "After Effects"-lite (well, ultra-lite ;) )
@amigaman101
Thanks :) And thanks to Epsilon for testing and taking it to the Adelaide meeting!
@amoskodare
Thanks :)
No, there is no and there won't be a download version. This time it's CD only.

Smart way of doing it; 1 license per computer. Good way of generating some extra sales, making a good LAN game etc. I got a LAN party in a few months, so getting a couple of copies for sure :)
