I do not want to make Deron's life any harder than it is in a depressed market
but I am a bit disappointed at the moment.
I have in the distant and recent past purchased the following versions of Pagestream
Pagestream Amiga first release.
Pagestream Amiga V3.og (was still in Beta)
Pagestream Amiga V3.4
Pagestream Mac V4.1
A couple of weeks ago I looked in at the Grasshopper site and to my surprise saw that there was a Mac OSX version available - or so it seemed.
I did the on-line transaction, got an acknowledgement of my purchase but no way to access the secure downloads section.
A couple of emails to Deron took care of that.
I downloaded and got.... not an OSX version... but another copy of the Mac OS9 version.
I emailed Deron on this but now got no reply. So I emailed again...no reply.
The site should say very clearly that the OSX version is not available yet.
At this moment, it is misleading.
Deron has my money and I have another OS9 version of Pagestream.
Incidentally, the OS9 version has the same graphics refresh flaw that the Amiga versions had, I have to collapse the current window to force Pagestream to re-draw the page and remove screen garbage.
It would be nice too if one could (like with Pagemaker) just click on any Pagestream document and have it open in Pagestream. It seems that there is no specific file type / extension for Pagestream document.
I'm definitely not happy that I got pulled in and bought something I don't need not want.
Pagestream is in my opinion, the most intuitive DTP program I have ever used despite it's shortcomings. A real OSX version will solve a lot of the problems that seem to have simply been "ported over" from the Amiga version due to the UNIX base in OSX.
Pagestream just needs to be "polished" if it is to truly challenge the likes of InDesign and Quark.
