What Eprom Programmers are used for 27C400
Thanks

Hi Ray, et al.
I use the Top3000 programmer for programming Kickstart chips:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/300529563608
Device support list:
http://www.topwin6.com/DeviceList/device3000.txt
Specify: MX27C4100, which is functionally equivalent to the 27C400.
Cheers,

And of course you respect intellectual property rights and would never condone the cloning of actual kickstart ROMs to EPROMs, right?

Hi Dan,
And of course you respect intellectual property rights and would never condone the cloning of actual kickstart ROMs to EPROMs, right?
I certainly would not.
I have no interest in, nor would I recommend others program Kickstart EPROMS for sale, or provide programmed EPROM chips for others.
When experimenting with my own machines, using kickstart software I have legally purchased, my moral compass is unperturbed.
Regards,
Red

"my moral compass is unperturbed"
Odd talk from someone with an avatar with a Nazi Waffen SS officer's cap in it.

You're really looking for a fight, aren't you?

avatar with a Nazi Waffen SS officer's cap
Some see the cap, others see the chick.

Some see a discussion on the respect of intellectual property rights, others discuss a "moral compass." Morality refers to personal or cultural values, while under intellectual property laws, owners of intellectual property are granted certain exclusive rights.

@RedscullDC
Thanks for the answer to the original question.
@All
Any other thoughts as to a Programmer for the 27C400.(Please stay on topic)

Needhams PB-10 here with a 27C400 adapter. Works a treat for MANY years now. Hint, it's still in a 386!

If I want to burn custom rooms for my amigas (1200 and / or 4000), what ettroms do I chose, I mean, where do you guys buy yours?
-
Define "custom rooms" and "ettroms" first.

You're surely on a roll Dan, but sure. :-)
I've followed mfilos's guide on how to use remul to save the ks in my amiga to separate librarys/devices and then replace some of them with new and updated libs. He also explains how these can be "burnt" to eeproms, instead of just softkicking them.
As a longtime amigafan and patriot who have bought the software I'm using, including the computer, os, miamidx, aweb, ibrowse, voyager, amiftp, amirc, dopus5.8magellan and tons of other software, standing firm on not pirating anything, I see where you're coming from, but hey...
If I planned on becoming a billionaire selling kickstart-copies, I probably wouldn't ask for how to here, right? :-)
Ettroms=eeproms. Stupid autocorrect. :-)

27C400's are readily available from Ebay:

Ensure you get 120ns (or faster) chips to suit your Amiga.

27C400's are Erasable Programmed Read Only Memory, EPROM; EEPROM's are Electrically Erasable Programmed Read Only Memory.
One erases an EPROM with UV light through the clear window on top of the chip which, after programming, it covered with a sticker to prevent light from erasing again.
I found the 105 ns ones shipped from China for about $6 USD each in a search.

The Programmer I have is an EETools ChipMax2. I bought it So that a single Programmer could be used for EPROMs, EEPROMs, GALs etc. Especially useful if working on Multiple Electronic Projects.

I've used willem's programmer on LPT. I got a spare willem adapter for ROM socket if someone needs it (for postage).
