Title: Cybervision64 in A4000 Desktop
Post by: mgerics on February 20, 2004, 01:08:56 PM
Hmm. Got a new installation of OS3.9 bb1 and bb2 as well.
Installed Cybervison64 card

Installed Cybrgraphics v4, using the install script on
the floppy I got with the cd.

Problem(s): On boot, icons get all 'garbaged' up;
absolutely nasty colors.

When running screenmode to select a cybergraphics screen,
none of the screenmodes available are cybervision modes.
showgfxconfig reports:

 CyberVision64: Prod=8512/34($2140/$22)
                BaseName=CVision

IIRC, Cybergraphics has some issues with BB2. I think you need to add a SKIPROMUPDATES or something in your setpatch command in ss.

Or, you could try loading Picasso96 instead.

Hi MrZammler

IIRC, you must upgrade to CGX 4.2pre7 at least. (better if 4.2pre11)

Ciao

Yes, Framiga is right - you need to install the latest version of Cybergraphics and your problems will vanish.

CGX has a bug: it checks at startup if your AmigaOS revision is compatible with CGX (e.g., CGX won't run on OS1.x). However, instead of checking it this way:

Code: [Select]

is current AmigaOS version *bigger* then minimum required version?

this is what CGX does:

Code: [Select]

is current AmigaOS version *equal* to any of the known compatible versions?

With BB2, the part of the ROM that CGX examines to retrieve the AmigaOS version (exec.library) was updated - now it has a version number that CGX does not know about. Hence the test fails and CGX refuses to work properly. This behaviour was fixed in the later revisions of CGX.

WooHoo! That did it! Thanks, guys. If you're ever in Clio,MI
or there abouts, drop me a line, and your next beer (or two!)
are on me (and in you!)
Conversely, if I ever am near where you hang out, I'll
get the brewskis as well.
Thanks a million!
