Someone has found the original mold for the C64c cases and a Kickstarter has been established to have cases made in 3 colors, bright white,Royal blue or red.
I don't have any affiliation with this, but thought others may like to hear about it.

I wonder who has the Amiga case molds? Do they still exist or did the get melted down for scrap. If somebody does have them I imagine it would be a problem to produce new cases because of the Amiga name on the cases unless they already own or could licence use of the trademark.
If somebody could make them what model case and color would you want and what would you use it for?
I'd like an A1200 in purple for an advanced FPGA motherboard.

Does anyone know if these are the molds for the original shells or the conversion shells? I never saw a conversion case, but I suspect the screw mounts will be in different positions considering the original C64 motherboard revisions are half the size of the 64C Rev. E boards. Would be nice to know for certain but I cannot ask the project owner a question without an account.

I hope they use a non-bromine plastic on the white ones!

I decided to back on of the crazy colours. I am about to get into a few Amiga/C64 restoration projects and the timing was right and thought why the hell not.

Goal reached. Does that mean all 1500 get manufactured? That would mean he currently has a surplus of 1279 cases.
-
Hmm.. come to think of it, does anyone know if the Barry Altman breadbox C64 case moulds are around somewhere?
-
Didn't the origional C64 case look more like the Vic20 case ?
-
@ mechy
nice but nothing beats my original breadbin IMHO and my case from 1984 will never have any yellowing issues :knuddel:

I have an account and it isn't hard to start an account just to ask a question.
Give me a list of questions to ask. I can't guarantee they will make the answers public.
I like the old cases and I am not sure I would want to change it whether there is yellowing or no yellowing.

It reached it's goal in 1 day? Awesome! :hammer: :hammer:
For that price, I'm almost tempted. Bet there'll be a run on 64C motherboards and keyboards on ebay when these come out. ;)
-
I got one of those C64C with a yellow case. I tried to do the Retrobright on it and it worked for a year or 2 and then went back to yellow.
So it looks like I'm getting a new case soon!

The paragraph describing the sample pictures makes it sound like they tested the molds, but the pictures of the samples look old and dirty. Can you ask if they've tested the molds for real?

Not from me... I got two in storage :) One of them is an actual Rev E board, too.

If they did have it. His son is most likely to have it. Or Leo would have it. The last one to have it is the one that owns the My retro computer company. I don't know for sure who owns what. But maybe the person to ask is Hawk. The one guy that running CommodoreUSA facebook page.

hope someone can find the molds to the C128 wants a new case.
-
I don't like the Red. Perhaps a light brown or a light Grey.
Mike.

I think he has the C128 molds. I made a pledge and today they sent an email out explaining in detail how they found the molds:
We walked to the back of the warehouse. In this dark corner, I realized these were the molds for the Commodore 64C, Commodore 128, and Commodore Plus 4.

I suppose Petro was last to have A1200 molds, considering it was he who had the last A1200s made. Would be very cool to build some new molds based on the old ones, updated with USB, CF etc already in place, and just a few mm higher so acc cards fit more easily.

Just update. They believe it got sold to a third party.
-
Do you think it would be good to get a C64C in the same color as the Breadbin?
-
