Title: Installing a second internal floppy
Post by: Zero on February 20, 2004, 08:38:43 AM
As I can't seem to get my external floppy drive to work off the diskdrive port of my A1200 Power Tower, even though it works fine on my A500+ (see previous post). I woud like to fit a second internal floppy drive (I have a spare Amiga one to use), I have one and tryed to fit it using a PC floppy cable as it has two connectors on it. But only DF0: was showing on the WorkBench (3.1).

I guess I must need a difrent lead or something?

Also is there a diffrence between a Amiga internal floppy drive and an PC one?

You need a similar circuit as is in an external floppy drive. The A1200's motherboard doesn't generate the id bitstream needed for DF1: A mere cable won't do it.

Cool, thanks Jope.

I understand now.

Shame my diskdrive port won't work with my external drive I am guessing, it must be faulty.

Thanks again :)
