Title: store list
Post by: rayman on February 10, 2015, 08:58:07 PM
Hi,

Last time I was here there was a place on the home page that listed sites for stores and or on line sites that were selling amiga goods.  Would be nice if it was put back or a list of stores etc still extant would be nice.
Googling amiga parts will get u some but a current list would be handy.
Sorely miss softhut.
Later RAy.

Software Hut's been gone for the better part of a decade, or close to it.  Their website stayed up a lot longer than their actual operation did, but occasionally you could email them and still find parts.  AFAIR someone bought up the remainder of their inventory, I recall seeing photos of a van full of stuff, but can't recall who or where.  :(

It's interesting to pick up a copy of Amiga Future every now and then.  There's ads in there for companies I'd never heard of before!  Sadly all of them are in Europe, as far as I know.

Just flipping through a copy next to my desk, here's a few to get you started:

Alinea Computer  www.amiga-shop.net (http://www.amiga-shop.net)
Amigastore.eu (http://Amigastore.eu)
Amedia France  amiga.amedia-computer.com (http://amiga.amedia-computer.com)
AmigaKit  www.amigakit.com (http://www.amigakit.com)
Vesalia  www.vesalia.de (http://www.vesalia.de)

Search the forums or google, as Dan said, for a more complete list.  Of course there's also ebay, Amibay, etc.

I've ordered from three of the five companies I listed above and never had issues with any of them.  Sometimes you have to shop around depending on what you're looking for, for example AmigaKit was out of stock when I wanted to buy an X-Surf 100, but Amigastore.eu had one.  Either way, it's nice that we have options, even if they are all in Europe!  ;)

Mike lists the main stores but there are a few others (http://www.relec.ch) Quarks Amigalounge (http://amigalounge.com/), http://www.commodorecomputercenter.com, icomp.de (Jen's Individual Computers), and of course Elbox.com.

If you have a specific request, some of the horrible, evil, ugly-to-the-core hoarders out there (because they won't sell their stuff for a fraction of what they paid for it) might have boxed something in a water proof, sealed plastic bin kept indoors in room temperature & humidity for prosperity sake, and might be convinced to sell it to someone who does not troll the forums looking for a fight.  To reach these scums of the earth (not the trolls, they will FIND YOU), you can use clairvoyance or telepathy, but an ad in the Marketplace here or in the Wanted section of Amibay (as Mike suggested) may work better.

Thanks @RobertB!  Wow, they have new A600 keyboards?  Not something I need, but just offhand not something I recall seeing anywhere else, either.  Might be useful to some people, just figured I'd make a note of it!

You know I did contact www.oldsoftware.com/ (http://www.oldsoftware.com/) about 18 months ago and did not get a response.  Has anyone bought anything from them recently?
