Hello all I need help again
Ive managed to install os 3.9 on my new 4gb card,I now need to install mui to use ibrowse.
Every time i try to install it it comes up with a error about " ",line 299. (im using the unarch from 3.9 dock bar to unpack it)
Ive tried unpacking to ram disk and installing from there same error.
Been searching on the internet and some one suggested to use installer 4.3 so i downloaded it and have no clue how use it
Anyone no how i can get this installed?.
Im trying on a real amiga 1200 not a emulator
please help thanks for your time

Download the latest version of Installer and stick in C: directory, replacing the old version that is probably there. You can use the Version command to check version numbers. Also since you have a fresh install of 3.9 now, I'd recommend installing Boing Bags 1-4 at this time, prior to installing anything else. That might also take care of your "old version of Installer" problem, too. ;)

UnArc does not work in its first version. You need to install Boingbag 1 to correct it. You should install BB1 anyway. And BB2, too.
It has nothing to do with the version of Installer. The file in question is just not there when using UnArc. And please do not recommend Boingbags > 2.

Wouldn't know about UnArc, I usually just use the shell to unarchive programs. Stick LHA in C: and done. Maybe I'm too old fashioned, using the command line. ;)
You guys kill me, all the hate for BB 3 & 4. ;) I swear, one of these days I'm just going to make a video of installing them, over and over. It really isn't hard and they've been 100% stable for me.

In not home at the moment will be in about 1/2 hour I'll install boing bag 1 and 2 and let you no how I get on

Of course you can mount iso's on Amiga! For decades! :)
Here's the newest offering from aminet:

Ive downloaded it and installed it,the AmigaOS3.9.iso is located on my CF card
Ive gone into the shell and typed mountdiskimage drive cf: AmigaOS3.9.iso and got device not found. maybe i did this wrong? should i copy this .iso file to my work partition and try again?
-
Mike is right: use LHA and BB 3 and 4 and safe and useful updates (use the latest BB 4 as it is dead easy).
You can unLHA the Aminet MUI 3.8 even on a PC and transfer it to a CF card bypassing the .iso issue for now; you will need access to CD's in the future, though.

UNarc on a pc did that and it gave me the " " line 299 error
All i want to do is install mui and get ibrowse to work seems this system is very hard to use every time you install something its headache after headache (maybe it just me)
I'm a linux user and its lots easier than Amiga os
I followed a youtube video and downloaded a few files and put them on my CF card along with the Amigaos.3.9.iso then clicked start its suppose to mount the iso on my desktop but nothing shows up
-
Sorry, then it is an Installation problem that, I believe, copies everything to a MUI directory and makes three assign statements in your startup script; failing that, just borrow the current Install program (being sure to return it) and put it on that way.

MUI 3.8 is now installed.
For those having problems installing MUI3.8usr.lha unzip it with LHA, i typed:-
lha x MUI3.8.lha. I first placed it in the work folder unzipped it with LHA then ran the installer and it installed fine
