Title: One of 1st Amiga 500 with Kickstart 1.2, Left C= key & red powerled
Post by: MoRetro on January 25, 2015, 11:38:59 PM
Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum but not to the CBM world:)

I'm auctioning a couple of my Amiga 500's on Ebay, starting from €0,50. Shipping worldwide.
One of the Amiga's is a very rare collectors item with the following properties:

This VERY EARLY A500 with Kick1.2 has a RED power LED instead of a GREEN power LED like the other Amiga 500s. On the RED LED version when the audio filter changes the light goes off instead of dimming.

If you're interested you can see all my Ebay auctions on:

Hi Guys,

Just got a question On Google+ Amiga Community (https://plus.google.com/118112820771449601500/posts/Ci6nhi6doe7) regarding the motherboard revision of this Amiga 500.
I share my answer here:

As this is an Amiga from the very first batch of Amiga 500, it must be Revision 3. As the Warranty seal is still intact i can't open it because i want the future buyer to purchase an authentic piece of Amiga history.
According to Sysinfo it has PAL OCS which means Agnus 8371 and Denise 8362.

You can see some pics on my Google Drive link.

Just for giggles, somebody should test it with the ACA 500.  ;)

Tricky to know if its really one from the first batch without the motherboard revisions though. Commodore was known to re-use parts, I have an A500 like this, that has a Rev5 motherboard, I also had a machine in the 90's without the C= Key and embossed logo but had a Rev 3 (or was it 4?) Motherboard.

In any case, the keyboard and case are rare regardless, I've often thought of selling mine, as it mostly just sits in a box. Generally, my own apathy wins out, and it stays in the box.

I wasn't aware of the G+ Community. Think I'll join that.

Hi fordp,

Even if Commodore reused parts, there other properties to look for.
For example:

FYI, my A500 purchased in 1987 (Australia) shipped with a rev 5 board with Kickstart 1.2.

Hi fordp,

Even if Commodore reused parts, there other properties to look for.
For example:
  • The low serial number 43914 !
  • The Kickstart version 1.2, according to the site Amigaroms (http://www.amigaroms.com/) this was introduced in 1986 and replaced by Kickstart 1.3 in 1988.

Serial Number is mostly likey a very good indicator, I've never looked closely ast such things, as its not really my thing. Checking, min is ROM 1.2, but Serial CA1010515, Whatever that means..

Heh, I think the first order of business for me with new hardware is to take out a screwdriver, I'd make a POOR collector of things meant to be MIB.

There's a guy on Amibay (Nikos Rizos from Greece) who has a disassembled his A500 of the same batch (serial 84638) as I have. And guess what... it's a Rev3;)
http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?20584-Amiga-500-rev-3 (http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?20584-Amiga-500-rev-3)
In the same tread someone else (Scyphe from Sweden) is summing up the dates of the Amiga chips from his A500. His serial number is slightly higher than mine. His serial 46607, mine 43914 !

Confused? well let me clarify that. I should better have used "in it's original untampered state" instead of authentic. Don be afraid Dan all Amiga's are authentic ;)
