So my dad somehow ended up with several hundred compact flash cards. It seems that most of them are 32mb but I'll be going through them all and testing them to see if any are 64mb or even higher. Question is, what to do with them all!?
-
If only they did these with more slots: http://uk.startech.com/HDD/Adapters/25in-SATA-or-USB-to-Dual-Compact-Flash-SSD-Adapter-with-RAID~2CF2SATAR
It would still a complete waste of time, but fun testing it
-
Build a giant RAID-0 out of 'em. Super-fast! Better hope none of 'em fail!
-
I know a bunch of experimental electronic musicians and the like, maybe they'll want to release an EP on an unusual format :D
-
Sell them on Ebay! ;)

why don't you post some here for a great price or free (except mailing cost) as I'm sure many ofm us can use an extra HD for our miggies:)

Would be perfect for IDE/CF solution for ZX-Spectrum, you do not need more than 32 MB in most cases.
-
I would be interested in a handful.

from post 6, +1 :)

ok, so I've had a rummage and quite a lot are in fact ~128MB, havent had time to properly catalogue them all but there are LOADS. Will probably check/format them all (slowly, my card reader is in a %&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@! computer ATM, need to move it) and then bundle them into batches
-
right, I've syphoned off the ones I want(for now), all the >= 128MB ones. There are about 50 to 100 32/64/96 MB left over. Here's my stash :)

I will just put this picture here, because I'm feeling like an ass, and not everyone can access Twitter just to look at a picture. ;)
-
Looks like if you take two of them and put vanilla creme in between, :roflmao:you could sell them as Oreo's
-
Right, sorry for the 10 month delay, here's a photo of the random-pile-of-CF-cards. I'd say it's about a 50/50 split between 32MB and 64MB. I can't be bothered to count them. Will happily post to whomever bagsys them first, so long as you refund my postage :)
-
Where are you located? I would be interested in a couple of 64MB ones.

Shameless begging repeat :afro:
-
Hello!
Would be happy to have 2, 3, or 4 of 64MB.
Where are you from?
Thanks! :-)

oh yes, that info would be useful, sorry : UK
-
I wouldn't mind a handful if you don't mind sending them to Australia.
-
I might be interested in a couple... the one I occasionally use seems to be failing. (I'm in the UK too)
-
righto
my paypal email is ric@hardacre.org
send vague amounts of cash to that, and your address and your requests and I'll send some out. I'll let y'all know if I'm starting to run out!

send vague amounts of cash
Ok, just sent you some, with my shipping address and list of wished cards.
-
got that thanks, I've had a look through and actually they're pretty much 95% 32MB, can't find any 64MB ones (unless I stashed them elsewhere).
Oddly though there are at least 3 96MB ones, Amiga_CDTV can have first dibs on those if he wants?
EDIT : New neater photo attached.
Stacks of 5 in each brand/type
three strips to left are ~32MB (some report 30), bottom right are 2 64MB and top-right are approx 96MB
There was one 256 and one 512. Those are MINE!!!
BTW : This is what I've done with the 128MB ones http://thedecibelkid.com/miis/#download

Ok, if you can't find any 64MB ones, you can put me down for five 32MB cards and one 96MB card.
-
OK, will post today

I sent you a request this morning. If you've lost the 64s, send me 3x32 or 1x32 and 1x96 (if nobody else is desperate for a 96). I'm only going to be using them for shunting data around so bigger is useful but not critical. If you want to send me extras up to the 500g postage limit I won't complain. :)

OK, will post today
Thanks!
I have also been using a 32MB card (with a PCMCIA-adapter) to transfer files into my non-networked A1200 and only rarely I run out of space with it. In most cases it's well big enough for the job.

OOps, didn't realize people had been Private Messaging me about them, sorry (tiny number in grey on a blue background at the top-right of the website). Going rate seems to be about £2 a card - can fit up to about 8 in an international letter which costs around £3 to post

Ok, so it would be 2£ for each card (max 8 for single letter) + 3£ for international shipping?
-
Yes.

OK, will post today
I received the cards today! Thanks :)

Hello Ric!
Just received my cards today: many thanks!
Also appreciated a flyer from your gig, just happened! :-)
Here it is!
