I just thought I would put in my opinion on the new site layout. I don't like it. I like the content, I just don't like the layout.
-I think there is too much "white space", or empty space on the page. I can't see as much as I used to be able to see.
-the Amiga.Org logo at the top - I just don't like it, i think it is mostly a waste of space.
-When I visit a recently read forum post it seems to always take me to the VERY END of the thread by default...that is kinda lame IMHO.
Again, the site content is great, I just don't like the new design.
-
When posting, at least try to join conversations already in progress :)

Well why dont you show your skills and create a new one that could be used.
Im used to the new site it just as easy to use as before .

I wish I had time...but I have a full time job and a new wife....that equals zero time :)
No but seriously, I understand the reason why they moved to the new design, and I am sure it will get tweaked over time.
Wayne: Sorry I looked quickly for an existing thread but I didn't see it right off the top.
Still learning the new layout I guess.

and a new wife
What happened to the old one? :-P

No problem, everything takes a bit of getting used to. Eventually everything will balance out.

I don't have a problem with the site, but Please may I have a latest posts link :-)
It would be nice to have it after the FAQ link on the top bar.

@bloodline
Not to be OT or gross but did your avator just fart at me?
-
I've noticed a lot of new and useful features added to the forums, but bloodline is right about the latest posts link. It should be present on every page, and I mean every single one. Design itself is OK, IMO, and I am getting used to it, but a little more blue here and there wouldn't hurt. :-)

Guys?
Please stop harping on the banner. We like it, no one else does. We got it. We understand. We hear you! We're currently working on a new one which should resolve this issue (and I will bet most of the kvetching as well).
Just have patience. I have to go out of town this weekend, but will try to have something by Monday or so.

Everyone should use Opera, but that's just my opinion.
The header reminds me of WB 1.3, just like my old A500.
-
Yup. We've , the AO staff, have bad taste. You should see how we dress!

A 1.3 theme for this site would make my day :-D

It did, Karlos fed her something warm, smelly, greesy and horrible... which didn't quite agree with her :-D
Look at my brain instead.
-
Been lookin' fer cancer, or somethin'? :-?
-
Hehe..well she is my first, and hopefully last! She even agrees that I should get a pegasos AND an AmigaOne... since I can't decide which I want... might as well get both! :)

Hold on to that wonderful creature, man!!!
I got "that look" just because I ordered a teeny weeny graphics card... :-D (ok, I could have discussed the matter with her before ordering :-P)

Nope, I had to learn several tasks while I had my brain scanned using an MRI scanner, so that they could observe blood flow around my brain.
I got paid to do it, and I got a tour of my brain! What you see there is just one slice.
-
I like the progress that's being made! A lot of improvements already and you spot new ones all the time, and from what I can tell it seems like the amiga.org team is really listening to the crowd! :-) I have a feeling that amiga.org will be better than ever when everything finally comes in place! :-D

I have done that. And it was an experience, I can tell you that! ;-) (The test result was negative, which I think is kind of positive) ;-)

This is my biggest issue with amiga.org at the moment (and currently the only one, except the colors, which I really consider to be a minor thing). This is annoying. But it will be fixed, I have no doubt in that! :-)
-
I don't know which you're referring to, but jumping to the end of the thread won't be fixed. It was a design choice from the core Xoops team based on thousands of requests from users, so you might as well get used to it. Once you get used to it, you'll find it a LOT more useful than going to the top of a large thread every time and trying to figure out which page you last read.
I have put in my obligatory request that it be made a user (or at least Admin) option.

Yeah quite a good deal, and you also get radioactive stuff injected into your brain, fun for everyone! :S
(i've got a t-shirt off one of those people :-), it reads: I've got a brain, have you?, heh heh heh, sweeeeeeet :-D)

The stuff they inject starts to produce heat when scanned... A REALLY FREAKY FEELING!!! I was in the scanner, and my veins started tingling and getting hot.

No this wasn't a PET scan!!! No injections, this is based on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, You are placed between two cryogenically cooled magnets and then radio waves are fired at your brain. The head scan you see there is a high resolution scan that took about 40min (as it works by taking slices). The Actual scans taken during the learning experiemnts only take about half a second, so they can capture two per second and they are low resolution as all they need to show is the density of blood in the brain.
When I watched my girlfriend do the same experiment, we switch on an old SGI box that was a parasite on the scan data and we could watch in real time (well 2 frames a second) the blood flowing through her head with the colours Red being the high levels through to Blue being the lowest level, this was overlaid on the high resolution image so you could see where the blood was in the head. It was really fun as they altered the test slightly without telling her and watching her brain light up like a christmas tree!
