I boot up my a1200 and I get a fuzzy screen. My telly telly says 576i Sd Rgb, thats the resolution I guess. It worked with the rgb cable prior to me installing my cf gaming card/hard drive thingie. Its this one http://www.ebay.ie/itm/141478923137?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
My hardrive light is on btw.
Here's the telly image, attached, normally I would think loose cable or something but...
I doubt my cfcard is loose, i double checked and pushed it in as far as possible. Could the rgb cable be incompatible with the cfcard thingie?

I doubt highly this is interference between the CF Card device and your cable; to me you have a hardware boot problem either due to the CF Card device or the process of getting into your A1200 to place it (something got moved).
-
If you suspect incompatibility with a new piece of hardware, try removing said piece of hardware and see if problem goes away. Troubleshooting 101. ;) Also check cables, metal RF shield over motherboard, yadda yadda.
-
Yes. Ill of course remove the cf card and then see if the screen displays ok.
First i should check if i moved something. A metal piece looked out of place...i think.
Ill have a go tomorrow after work.
I wanna play agony on my large lcd screen.
Ill need a dedicated shelf or desk for my 1200.

Well, i have sorted the above problem. I think somehow the cfcard was only partially connected or something.
Now it seems that my vanilla a1200 does not have enough memory to run whdload, which means no software will run, I guess?
I'll have to get used to using an amiga as i always mostly just played games.
I'll have to get an 030 accelerator memory thingy from amigakit, sooner rather than later it seems.
Also games, i only tried 2 old floppies, don't seem to load, something about a checksum error or such on the disc.
-
Correct. 2MB is not enough to play most WHDLoad games, since just loading the operating system consumes a bunch of that. I suppose some old 512K A500-era games might work. Try turning off (PRELOAD) option in the icon settings, as well. Makes the game slower, but might help with memory. Better once you add some fast memory to the system. :)
-
Even a tad bit of fast memory will get WHDLoad to work, but the ACA 1233 40Mhz Accelerator with 128MB RAM with ROM in Fast RAM will rock your socks off -- and X-mas is coming up, so great stocking stuffer!!
-
Thanks guys. Ill check the preload option.
And yes ill get the recommended accelerator asap.
I just wanted to try agony and mega typhoon for the time being.
