Post by: mechy on December 12, 2014, 01:41:27 AM
Hi all,
Does anyone out there have a gvp 4MB 64pin simms for sale. One of the simms in my gvp A530 seems to be bad:furious:. Preferably in the USA but will entertain any offers outside also.

thanks,
 Mech

Wouldn't it be easier just to replace the RAM chips?

It will be easier & faster, these GVP SIMMs are hard to come by as you know. :)

Someone on Amibay made up a batch of 16MB ones last summer, but I missed the post and they didn't last long.  Don't understand why someone with hardware experience doesn't ramp up a batch of these more often?  Seems like they'd make good money off them...  :(

W00t!  If you're making the 16MB ones, put me down for at least four!  :)

Buddy, if I can score some good 16MB ones, you're first in line for my four 4MB ones.  ;)

can you recommend me a good program to test fastram on the GVP040?
I will be testing 4mb and 16mb simms.

Hi!

Not surprisingly I already have several memory tester programs on my hard drive. Haven't ran them in a while so gave them a whirl a few minutes ago:

http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/memtest - worked fine

http://aminet.net/package/util/moni/MemTest - locked up on my system

http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/pmemtest - worked fine

http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/gforce2040 - 1.51, worked fine

I ran all four from Shell booting with no Startup-Sequence. Hope that helps, if you come across any more you'd like me to test let me know.

Also, I think the RAM has to be at least 60n's for burst mode to work, but I might be confusing that with the VXL*30 in my A500. Still, the faster the better! ;)

Good luck with your project!  You will make bank if you're able to get them working!  :)

Hi!
For now I have tested 5 4mb simms. I am waiting for memory chips.
I can sell for 25 euros each plus postage if anyone wants.
Cheers!
