Seriously! It's not Amiga, but since there seems to be a facination with things military grade I thought you all would appreciate it:-D

Wow.... that's one ugly laptop, huh?
Would probably be great out in the field, though. It would probably make a perfect on-site computer for a construction or land surveying company. They wouldn't need big power, but need a machine that could stand up to the abuse and weather. It sure does look rugged!
-
I could use one of those with Star Commander (with XE1541 cable) and my 1541 & 1571 drives, as newer type parallel ports don't usually work with it.
-
Cool! Too bad that the over-sea shipping would cost more than the machine itself, or I'd bid on it! :-D
-
I had always wondered if that sort of thing existed!
I remember reading about some scientists who worked at the south pole, and had to replace their notebook every couple of weeks due to the cold - I think they started using luggables instead.

@redrumloa
What are the specs??

heh heh, i'm sure you can but waterproof cases, but why not just get a tablet? if you're out in the field, use on OSK...
specs are crappy, it's liek 200MHZ and win95
-
Well, if you want a modern ruggedized laptop, then take a look at the Panasonic Toughbook (http://www.panasonic.com/computer/toughbook/design_features.asp) line..

200Mhz, 48MB RAM, 3GB HD, 8XCD, 33.6 modem, 10" color LCD Touchscreen, Win95 & handwriting recognition software.
This is a very neat laptop! It's unbelievable how sturdy this thing is! You could LITERALLY drop it or run it over with a car without much worry! It's a damn brick!

Much better than the rubbish that dell sell.

I have a Dell Inspiron 4150 laptop with Win-DOHS XP (read: eXtra Poop, eXtra Problems, ). It works great when Win-DOHS isn't messing things up.

What's wrong with one of those?
Get it, unwrap it, boot it up, format the hard drives, flash the bios, put the OS on a seperate partition [all of them NTSC of course] and you've got a brilliant computer :-D

I've got a Dell Latitude, and I've never had any problems. In fact, I bought it after seeing a friend's Latitude. I would buy a Dell again....
-
I also have a dell latitude a 366 cpi these things are known by the local battery shop as having batterys that need replacing before the cells are worn because the electronics go wrong in them. Mine works well but is not a touch quality wise on my old texas instruments a rebadged acer 133 im hoping to sell mine to get some money towards a hpi savage 25 .
-
The Inspiron series consists of low-quality crap. never buy it. The Latitudes is generally quite good.
Some of the inspirons are basically the same as other Latitude models - Dell just sells them for twice as much, and all they add is a little memory and perhaps a larger hard drive... :\
-
Just lovely! :-) I'd buy it if it was here, in Europe...
-
BTW for whoever's interested.
Laptops by redrumloa (http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=redrumloa&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50) is FINALLY getting underway:-) Approximately 200 laptops will be listed within the next 2-3 weeks.
Think Amiga laptop, think AROS.
I've had a couple requests for a buy-it-now option on the Itronix laptop after it got an initial bid, so HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3461732954) you go, I've listed a second one! Grabn that one with BIN before it gets an opening bid:-)

Hmmm, perhaps you might want to include more system specifications in the object discription, redrum?

Which item? What is lacking? Every item has full system specs AFAIK.
