I was disheartened to learn crossdos didn't come with Workbench 2.05.
I just need it functional enough to do some Workbench 2.1 adfs.
I'm almost there.
Damn.

I think crossdos might work, just not the rest of it.
I don't know, however it's always worth a try! :)

The trouble is I will have to buy 3.0 disks (a good $15 local). So I'm not itching to do it if it won't work.

Simply put, no, I tried myself and failed, WB 3.0 will run with KS 2.05 but you can't install it. I had to install WB 3.0 via WinUAE and then put the drive back in the system, kinda ran a bit crappy. Alas my Amiga skills aren't the greatest and I'm sure there is someone out there who has done it.

http://home.t-online.de/home/r.benda/soft2.html has Workbench 2.1, perhaps it's there.

(talking to himself..)CrossDosfilesystem seems to be there.
But no mountlist at least on that WB floppy.

A much simplier solution would be to use fat95 or messydos instead of crossdos, they are both free.

Try MSH and FAT95 from Aminet which does the same thing as Crossdos:

See
misc/emu/msh-156.lha
misc/emu/fat95.lha
PS: I do not think WB 3 will work on KS2.05 as there are new libraries on KS3.1 and new devices that aren`t compatible on a KS2.05.

$15 is a bit steep for 3.0 disks. I think Ryu (?) was selling sets much much cheaper than that ~ $5, why not ask if he'll ship to US.
Also, WB3.1 wouldn't set you back much more than about 20USD I'm guessing. I've seen an ebay seller selling a set for about 12 UKP ~ 20 USD
