Hiya folks.
I've bought a copy of Candi, on the normal setting, I'm seeing 90% CPU usage in CPUTemp.docky, the computer feels slow, well, as if 90% of the CPU is being used showing an animated boing ball.
The LowCPU version don't animate, and just show the background.
This is on a X1000 HD 5450 graphics card.
Has anyone else got this program working without slowing their system down?

I don't have it but is slow in all modes or just the boingball?

You need Final Edition with the new graphic.library and RadeonHD2.4 driver.
Then the CPU will be at 60% and LowCPU at 30%.I think it will be further optimized

It's all the types of background.
I am a beta-tester (Secret handshake) so I've got all the latestest files. But 60% is still far too high for something like that.
I don't get animation at all with the low version, but at least the CPU usage is v. low!

AmigaOne500 here and i'm using the Candi background 'DefaultAnimated_LowCPU' which gives the clouds moving in the background and the boing ball rotating and i'm getting 25% usage with the RadeonHD 2.4 driver.
RadeonHD 6570 and its as fast as usual. Doesn't feel like its impacting anything that I run as well.

There's a new update I'll try tonight.

The update is better. I'm using the new candles background and getting around 20% usage with oddessy and tunenet running.

Just as broken as ever for me.
80+ CPU on normal, no animations at all on low_CPU.

That's strange behaviour even with a very low end graphics card like a Radeon HD 5450. What else do you have running on your system? If you have no animation at all with the low-CPU versions, then the chances are that you're running something else that's getting in the way.
Candi Desktop runs at a very low priority. That means two things:
- It won't slow down your entire system (your "computer feels slow" impression is probably based on seeing high CPU usage rather than any real sluggishness)
- If other software uses up 100% CPU, then the animation will pause. Once again, this is so that the animation doesn't slow down the rest of the system. However, I wouldn't expect this to happen unless CPU usage is up at 100%

I have tested on a few X1000's with 5450 and it runs fine. No issues as Hans describes.
