Hi all, Im trying to get Dosbox (0.73 iirc) to run under my OS4.1 classic (u6) machine. I cant recall ever getting it to work, when I run it, the Amiga switches to a white screen with scanlines, I assume that is my indivision output (I have Ratte's auto switcher). In other words, there is no signal from OS4.1 anymore. I've tried increasing stack, opening it in a window and some other things. Am I missing something?
Oddly enough the 68k version doesnt work either, under OS3.9 my machine just freezes when I run it. But I dont think that is related.

one more bump. I need help.

Is the OS4 port of DosBox actually stable? The last time I tried it - admittedly many years ago - it was buggy to the point of being unusable. Don't know if it's been improved since then, but it sounds like you're experiencing the classic problem of buggy/broken software.
If it is trying to open an AGA screen, start by making sure NTSC, PAL, and other native modes are removed from Devs:Monitors. That should force the system to stick to RTG and will let you see if the machine is locking up, or if the program is trying to open a (native) screen that can't support what it's trying to display.

thanks. well, I have found an old screenshot of dosbox running on my OS4.1 installation, playing a game of settlers. so somehow this used to work fine for me. since then, Ive had update 4, 5 and 6 applied and something must have changed. its very hard to figure out what, perhaps someone has an idea?
nothing in monitors except the b/cvision driver.

wait, there is more. when I start dosbox, and the screen goes white as Ive prev stated, I cannot switch back to workbench. I assumed the machine locked up but when I left it running for 10 minutes, the screen went black, and white again when I moved the mouse. looks like OS4 screen saver is active.. does this ring a bell for anyone? Is the automatic monitor switcher in the way? its not easy to take it out, Im afraid.. but I thought I had forced dosbox to run in a window anyway.

still no luck getting this to work. I have since reinstalled OS4 but I still experience the same problem. when I start dosbox, a new screen is opened, complete with (emulated) scanlines, and I cannot switch back to workbench. I have tried every option to force dosbox to open in a window, but no luck so far.
