Title: DMS --> RAM

I have some DMS files to extract but am reluctant to use floppy drive as is iffy and most of my disks are old and bit dodgy (lots of drive failures anyway).  So, was thinking of trying to direct DiskMasher output to ram by assigning df0:.  I know can't usually assign devices but would the following work or would it be better to set up rads and repeat for files that need more than one disk:

Assign df0: DISMOUNT
Assign df0: ram:

This was just a thought.  Or would it be better still to set up pseudo floppies on harddisk?

No, that will not work, however I think assigning DF0: to RAD: will.

Thanks. Would the RAD: have to be standard floppy size or could I get away with increasing size to deal with whole dms file at once?

mount rad:

dms write file.dms to rad:

that should work just fine, no need to assign df0: anywhere

I'm pretty sure increasing the size of rad: would not work but you can create more rad devices, just copy the rad icon and rename it to something else, then edit the file and change the unit number so each copy has a unique number.

I've always used fmsdisk.device to create 4 virtual floppies on my HDD.

All DMS and ADF files get written to these virtual floppies. Much quicker, more reliable, and you can Virus Check the unarchived disks much faster too.

Use the supplied instructions in the guide to get everything set-up. You can tweak it further, and if you need any advice on doing so, let me know and I will post a detailed guide sometime tomorrow when I am back on my Amiga...

HI! HOW TO FORMAT ON A2000 WITH A2090A CONTROLLER HD .I HAVE A2090A.DMS FILE.HOW TO PUT ON READABLE DISK ?

First of all, welcome on a.org :-).
Secondly stop SHOUTING ;-).
Thirdly open a shell (or CLI as it's also known) on your Amiga, go to the directory where 'a2090a.dms' is located. Then type 'dms write a2090a.dms', it will ask you to insert a non-writeprotected disk and start unpacking. (Note: you must have dms in your c: directory).
