Title: Amiga GD64
Post by: fondpondforever on November 14, 2014, 01:42:10 AM
Been thinking about a new CD32 which would be released in High Definition called the Amiga GD64 (Games Device 64 Bit). Would be half the size of a CD32, Shaped as the Boing Ball with a stand so it doesn't roll around whilst your playing games, have a CD/DVD Slot in the side, 2 USB Connections, come in 3 colour varieties (chequered red & white, snow and ruby), have an updated wireless controller with 8 round buttons, not compatible with mouse and keyboard to give you that hardcore console gaming experience, not online so you can just focus on getting that new power up to explore the next level, have 4 joypad ports, faster graphical user interface and loading time but will still keep the aura of the original Amiga CD32. Come on a-eon, that saves you thinking about your next production model. :)

Will it have 10 serial ports?

If you really want that, the FPGA replay will be a high def games console.

ElPolloDiabl, the FPGA replay looks very good.

Everything is online these days.  How are you going to market a console that couldn't do online multiplayer?  IMHO terrible idea.  Although something shaped like a boing ball could be amusing.  ;)

While I understand your enthusiasm, my fantasy is perhaps a little more feasible/realistic in an affordable cd32 ram and cpu upgrade.
While I enjoyed the cd32 well enough "back in the day", Im more of a fan of what it almost was these days. Even to just double cpu clock rate and add a little fast ram makes a huge difference. Apart from mostly 3d shooters we've never really had aga games that push that spec machine (in the way, say Shadow Of The Beast or Lionheart pushed the stock a500). It's all just potential locked away in a box.

We all have been thinking sometimes about a new Amiga consoles

My pipe drems throughts:

-Holographic versatile discs as media
-Custom Power8 type cpu (8 or more cores)
-Custom Nvidia tesla type gpu
-Enough big FPGA for classic chips emulate and assist games with hardware game engines
-16 GB unified ram
-Of course AmigaOS in ROM

Name it AmigaHVD64 or AmigaoneHVD64

Yeah, i know that for specs is more a workstation than a console :-D
