I've just found my old Panasonic KX-P1170 multimode printerin the loft and hooked it up to my Amiga. It has been a long time since I used it but it seems to be in working order. The thing is I can't remember how to get it to work properly with the Amiga. Does it need a driver from somewhere? I searched Aminet but didn't see one there.

What OS are you using? you should find the printer drivers in the Storage drawer, on your Workbench disk. Go to Preferences/Printer in your Workbench and choose the printer needed. Should be that easy. This is for OS 3.1.

It has an Epson emulation (FX-800) and an IBM ProPrinter II mode I believe; the Epson should be in the Amiga printer drivers directory.
Try: https://dlc.panasonic-europe-service.com/EUDocs/GetDoc.aspx?did=124087&fmt=PDF&lang=en&src=3&uilang=en-GB&model=KXP1170
for the manual

Yeah, I'm on 3.1-thanks guys. I thought that getting a driver would have been tough when I couldn't find one on Aminet but this was quite straightforward.
@Danbeaver I'm amazed they still keep a pdf of the manual online.
Now to get down to some ear-splittingly loud dot-matrix printing!

I get nostalgic for that sound sometimes, have to look at Youtube videos!

Don't get too nostalgic, they used to make sound dampening boxes to control the noise. Lord, they are loud!

I just recently tested my Panasonic KX-P2023 on my A1200, even bought a new ribbon (plenty of those on eBay) as the text was getting a bit light. This model even has a mode called "SUPER QUIET" (prints a bit slower and yeah, it makes *slightly* less noise, but... you know matrix printers :))
There is a PanaPlus driver (http://cd.textfiles.com/zoom2/utilities/printer/panasonicstudio/) for 24- and 9-pin series (readmes didn't mention your model) and it says its up to OS 3.0.
