Title: rigid cf adapter for amiga 1200
Post by: petercli on October 04, 2014, 06:15:08 PM
Currently, I have something like this :
 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amiga-A600-A1200SD-SDHC-MMC-to-2-5-44-Pin-HDD-kit-adaptor-ide-lead-/141410438352?pt=AU_Computers_Vintage&hash=item20ecb80cd0

The problem is that the flexible cable causes the metal to sit on the motherboard, and occasionally the machine will not boot up (because of a short?). I wrapped it in paper , but I worry about heat buildup.

I recall someone selling a rigid cf adapter, but I d0n't see it anymore on ebay. Any ideas ?

 Thanks, PEter

When we supply a customer with an IDE adapter, we attach a plastic insulation layer under the adapter to prevent shorting.  Could you not do this to your existing adapter?

The amount of heat generated by these cards and adapters is negligible, and any heat buildup is nowhere near enough to cause damage to the card or anything else in the machine.

This guy also has a rigid adapter as well as one that allows you to "swap hard drives" without taking your computer apart.
