Idle curiosity again. Any updates on the module to activate the USB ports on this card? Not that I'm dying for it or anything, just curious if anyone's heard status. Even without it though, the X-Surf 100 is definitely worth the money! :D
-
Yes, but think how much better it would be to have usb as well! IMHO.
I'm having trouble waiting "two more weeks" or "when it's done" (grin)
-
I haven't heard anything either but I'll definitely be getting two when they're available!

Jens posts his updates on the German forums first, so look to EAB and a1k first.

Is EAB a German forum?
-
@hese7
no, the german forum is a1k.org, but jens is also member on eab, while he cancelled his account here, or at least stopped to use it. when looking for updates on hardware subjects in english its best to refer to eab, thats where the party is.
@sacc-guy
from my observation jens is actually someone who delivers and if he names some timeframe then mostly on time. and if there are delays then they are being communicated, unlike other examples when two more weeks means actually five years or never.

i have not followed the subject closely because i have a deneb for my main setup but here is the thread:
http://www.a1k.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41499&highlight=usb+modul&page=22
the last news from four weeks ago as i understand it is that a batch of modules is just going to be fabricated in order to be tested on different clockports. furtherly it seems the module will be available either directly from individual computers or from vesalia because of some differences with other distributors.

The eab server is in France, although the eurodns registration has shown it to be Germany in the past (whois). It is, either way, not a UK, USA, or native English server and the owners converse in only a facsimile of the English language.

XSurf100 usb module is one of the the three things missing on my Amiga4000T. :)
The other two are hardware accelerated audio and video playback. (An upgraded version of a card like Peggy+.. Preferably both audio and video in one card since I don't have enough Zorro slots available)

I was going to comment "just get one of these":

Then I realized you said A4000T, not A4000. And then I realized the darn thing doesn't include Zorro slots, anyway. Gah, need more coffee! ;)
Is that new Prisma sound card going to offer anything you're looking for? I haven't had a chance to catch up on it lately. I'd love a new sound card for my A2000 but I don't see that it's going to offer much over my AD516, if it can't do AHI it's basically just a fancy MP3 player, right?

but here is the thread:

Huh, Google Translate makes that page almost readable. ;) Nice PCB design, looks like he's making it to fit lots of different expansion connectors. Good stuff, thanks! :)
