NewsTek Episode #15
For Episode #15 of the NewsTek Show we are live at the Chicago Michigan Ave Apple store for the launch of iPhone 6. About 500 people lined up to get their iPhone 6 & 6 Plus Smart Phones. We asked if anyone was going to play some retro Amiga games on their brand new iPhone's and unfortunately got blank stares. Not sure if the modern public is aware of what the Amiga is/was. It shows there is still a lot of work to do to bring Amiga brand awareness back to the general public.

At the risk of loosing my head - How is this Amiga news? Looks like pure Apple News to me. Perhaps it belongs in a different category?

We ask about playing classic Amiga games. The NewsTek Show has been around since 2008 and we always talk about Amiga on it.

I don't see how it helps the Amiga to be attending launches of competitor's products. It would surely be better to stay away from such launches rather than swelling the numbers of Apple fanboys.
It's also not practical to play Amiga games on such a device. For one thing, they have an anti-emulation stance, for another they have no gamepad/joystick, and thirdly any Amiga developer wanting to port to such a device (even as freeware) has to pay Apple on a regular basis to do so. No thanks.

instead of reviewing the Apple brainwashing line why don't you tell us when Alladin 4D for NG miggies will be out:confused:

I could not help but notice that the environmental noises are very loud. Considering that an external microphone was being used, the dialogue is surprisingly quiet.
In fact, it sounds to me as if only the built-in microphone of the camera was being used despite the presence of another micro.

You're right, I think I screwed that one up. I must have not had one of the menu setting on external microphones, there are two of them. I learned that later on after the shoot. I had thought there was only one setting for it. It's the first time I used an external microphone with that camera. I did so to eliminate the background noises but it looks like it only made it worse. A hard lesson well learned for next time. I'm working on a new version of the video where I continue to try and fix the audio.

Bluetooth gamepads/joysticks are supported for some games. I do agree with you that a touchscreen is a bad input device for many games. Believe me I would love to stand in line for an Amiga Smartphone, sadly there are none to buy. I did not stand in this line to get the new iPhone. We interviewed the crowd then left to get breakfast and didn't come back.
:)
@klx300r
Programmers are working on it, I just don't have a release date for you yet. I would love for a new version to come out of course.

Tell Rich to bring the BBS podcast back!
I miss Carrier Whistle something awful.

Unfortunately Rich has not done a new Carrier Whistle or even a new Amiga Round Table in ages. I wish he would do some new ones. I miss those shows.

Could we not loose the mac news?

Sorry for the bad audio. Been on the phone with Sony troubleshooting my camera all morning. Turns out out I have a bad mic input port.
:(
It can happen on older prosumer cameras sometimes. My Sony FX1 is 8 years old. Sony can fix it but they are offering me a compelling offer to trade in and get a nice discount on a 4K Camera. I was going to do that next year anyway so I think I'll take advantage of that. In the meantime I'll continue and try to salvage what audio I can and reupload the video.

Video is offline for now.

I saw a gamepad for an iPhone in a shop a few months ago, it was over $100. I could get a smartphone, or a proper portable games console, for less than that.
I did not stand in this line to get the new iPhone. We interviewed the crowd then left to get breakfast and didn't come back.
But the journalists/marketers counting the people who were in the line, and reporting the resultant number in the media, would not have known that.

It always amazes me the level of hostility and the energy wasted on apple by people. If you don't like a company/product etc just shut up about it already. Just makes you all sound jealous. Why should you care so much......,,,
P.s. Posted from my iPad lol :) ;)
